When was the last time you heard of a baby Nigel or Janet? We’re guessing never!
TheOffice of National Statistics have recently revealed the most popular, and unpopular, baby names of 2020 in their official data, and there are a fair few names that have made it into the UK’s most unpopular baby names from that year.
There's no denying the importance of making the right decision when it comes to naming your baby, after all, that name will stick with them forever, and you'll want it to be a name they're going to be happy with growing up.
While the usual Oliver's and Olivia's have yet again come out on top, you might be wondering which names weren't so popular.
If you’re keen to steer clear of these names heading for extinction for your new arrival, you may want to keep reading…

And while the names above all made it into the top ten most unpopular name list, there were some names that were totally unranked, with three or less parents choosing to name their child Carol or Nigel in 2020.
Other names that are struggling are Piers (just four babies were named Piers), Greg (just three babies) and eight Stuart's.
As for girls, there were only six Lorraine's, seven Carrie's and three Cheryl's!
