When founder Liz Hilton started the brand from her garage, she initially sold one-size-fits-all sleep sacks that can help improve your child’s sleep, while also keeping them snug and secure in their crib. However, it was a call from one of her existing customers that sparked an idea for greater personalisation and inclusivity.
"My baby Wren loves her Swaddelini,” said the caring mother. “But I was hoping I could order a custom one.” As Hilton learned, Wren’s progenital heart condition meant she couldn’t wear her favorite sleep bag amidst endless trach and feeding tube changes.
The heartwarming question led Hilton to realise this was not just an opportunity to help a little girl in need but also to change the lives of other babies with special needs. By offering a sleep sack that could be customized to any baby’s requirements, it signalled a big step forward in inclusivity for families around the world.
Wren later received the first-ever custom Swaddelini order (spoiler alert: she loved it) and inspired the brand to offer a custom Swaddelini to anyone and everyone – for no additional charge.
Sadly, in January this year, Wren passed away at of three. To honor her beautiful legacy, Swaddelini is committing 10 per cent of every ‘Wren bundle’ sale to the Children's Heart Foundation so they can help other children with a variety of heart conditions, (along with their families) ,get the support they need.
