Meggan Grubb is one of the UK’s most followed fitness influencers, and it’s easy to see why. With her authentic, down-to-earth vibe, she’s become the ultimate fitness icon and super mum that we can’t get enough of. But we’ve been itching to know - how has her fitness routine shifted since welcoming her daughter, Winnie, 18 months ago? And we’re keen to learn how she balances her personal fitness goals with the challenges of motherhood. So, we grabbed our notepads, ready to soak up all the wisdom from the mum who can lift her body weight three times and still make it to bath time with Winnie!

Confidence and self-care in motherhood

It might seem like Meggan Grubb, social media influencer and fitness guru, has always exuded confidence, but that’s not quite the case. Like many of us, she’s had her moments of self-doubt and overthinking. However, motherhood has completely shifted her perspective and given her a new sense of confidence. She credits motherhood for helping her trust herself more and embrace her growth in unexpected ways.

As she tells Mother&Baby, "I’ve become so much more confident in myself, knowing what I believe in and trusting my instincts. Becoming a mum really taught me to trust myself more, and I’ve noticed that shift recently. It’s something I’m really grateful for—how motherhood has helped me grow in ways I didn’t expect."

The balance beam of life

Meggan embraces the beautiful chaos of motherhood, work, and self-care, proving that balance isn’t about perfection but making it work for you. "My partner and I juggle childcare while working from home, and yes, sometimes we disagree, but we always figure it out!" she shares. Like many mums, she’s felt the pull of mum guilt but has learned that small wins matter. "Writing things down, even little chores, helps me feel accomplished-ticking something off, no matter how small, makes a difference!"

She also prioritises self-care and finding strength in movement. "For me, that’s hitting the gym," she says, but her approach to fitness has evolved since becoming a mum. "I’ve learned that short, focused workouts can be just as effective—you don’t need an hour; even 18 minutes can do the trick!" It’s about working smarter, not harder, and making time for yourself in ways that feel good. And sometimes, that means squeezing in a workout while Winnie plays nearby.

Fitness therapy

For Meggan, fitness has always been more than just physical; it's her go-to for mental clarity. "I've always found working out to be my me time," she says. "Whether it was when I was a student stressing over exams or now as a mum juggling everything, exercise gives my mind a break."

After years of documenting her fitness journey on social media, Meggan launched her app Beyond in 2021 and has since helped over a million women worldwide, many of whom are mums. What we love most is that the app isn't just about breaking a sweat; it's about fostering a supportive community. Users can connect with like-minded individuals, share their journeys, and find motivation in a space celebrating every step forward.

"I’m especially passionate right now about making Beyond a space that supports women through every stage of life. That passion comes from my own experience—when I was pregnant, I kept training but also took a pre-and postnatal fitness qualification to ensure I was doing things safely. There’s so much misinformation out there, and many people still believe you can’t work out at all during pregnancy, which just isn’t true. I wanted to study it properly so I could not only take care of myself but also share that knowledge with others through Beyond.

"Going through pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and now motherhood—where time is more limited—has given me an even greater understanding of how fitness needs to adapt. It’s similar to being a student when you're juggling everything with limited time. Even your menstrual cycle impacts how you move—some days, you have zero motivation, which is fine, but movement can help lift your mood or ease discomfort. The same goes for pregnancy; some days, you might not feel up to it, but exercise can help with aches and clear that foggy feeling. I wanted Beyond to reflect all these real-life experiences and, in the future, even introduce workouts for menopause—just anything that supports women in moving their bodies in a way that feels good and doable at every stage of life."

With features like personalised workout plans, a vast library of recipes, and a built-in journal for reflection, Beyond is great for mums and mums-to-be who are trying to stay fit or just starting their fitness journey.

Goodbye excuses, Hello home workouts

We get it-getting back into fitness can feel seriously overwhelming. As parents, our to-do lists have never been longer—nursery runs, after-school activities, endless lunch-making, and trying to squeeze a gym visit somewhere in between. By the time the day’s over, we’re running on empty. But Meggan reassures us that you don’t need an expensive gym membership to make it work. In fact, there’s plenty you can do from home once the little one is (finally) asleep, with no fancy gym equipment required.

"I think you can do so much from home. Right now, I’m running 30 days of workouts on my app, where I guide people through full classes. I use weights, but I always offer adaptations for those who don’t have any." explains Meggan. "You don’t need a gym—you can work out while your kids are around, during nap time, or even just take 15 to 20 minutes once they’re in bed. I know it’s not always easy, but if you want to, you can find that small window to move your body, and it will make you feel better. Plus, if you don’t have weights, just grab a backpack and fill it with books, and that's a brilliant alternative for weights."

Meggan absolutely swears by two-way zip sleepsuits. Two-way zip suits are a game-changer for parents because they make nappy changes so much easier, especially when you're tired. Meggan also loves Child's Farm products and always uses them when bathing with Winnie, which is her absolute favourite thing to do.
