Becoming a parent is one of the biggest milestones in your life (so congratulations!), but it can also be a daunting one too. Parenthood can often feel like a never ending maze, but don’t worry because there's never one direct route and every parent feels this way. Don’t compare

With social media making everyone's lives look picture perfect, it's easy to fall into the trap of thinking you're not doing as well as your peers, but this isn't true!

“Every baby reaches different milestones at different times. They all learn to speak, eat and crawl eventually, so try not to worry too much about what other babies are doing!” - Anna, mum-of-one

Trust your instincts

“As parents we second guess themselves all the time and often we’re completely right in our theories/thoughts. Parents DO know what's best for their baby, they just need to be confident in themselves.” - Kirsty, 42, mum-of-two

Be kind to yourself

This is SO important as a new mum, as you'll be so busy you'll often neglect your own needs and try to be superwoman and do everything yourself.

"When a baby is born, a mother is born. So look after yourself as much as you can. A good, strong and supportive network of close family and friends is so important and great if you have it. If friends and family offer help - ask for cooked meals!

You may be thinking 'what on earth?', but trust us, you'll be super busy as a new mumma, so don't be surprised if you forget to feed yourself.

“We found that the days would fly past in a feeding/winding frenzy and we'd forget to eat or have no energy to cook. Having meals delivered by friends was a lifesaver and we had a freezer full of them too.” - Kat, mum-of-three

Go with the flow

This is easier said than done of course, but a lot of what your baby will go through is very normal. Take it from mummy Jessica below.

"Sleepless nights, changes in napping, refusing certain foods, your baby suddenly being clingy to you…most things are a phase and will change probably before you’ve even solved the problem. Unless it’s a health/safety concern just roll with it and don’t waste your precious free time searching for answers."

There is no advice
