Fresh from Mother&Baby contributor Sophie Knight’s shopping basket this month is a gadget from eufy that will make your everyday household chores much easier.

This month Sophie has been testing out a eufy robot vacuum cleaner, designed to simplify your life with ease.

The eufy x10 Pro Omni robot vacuum cleaner

Do you ever feel like you vacuum your house every day – sometimes more than once? Having children can make the mess in your house ever-present; whether it’s crumbs from the 18 snacks they ate before 11am, dried mud from their wellies, or glitter and bits from your craft session. It can feel never-ending.

That’s certainly what my house feels like; I have a three-year-old daughter and a seven-year-old son – not to mention a husband who’s a tree surgeon, who brings home pockets-full of sawdust every evening. I bring the vacuum cleaner out most days – whether that’s our upright vacuum for a full clean, or our handheld vacuum for a quick refresh.

I’ve been thinking about investing in a robot vacuum cleaner for ages, as the benefits seem ten-fold. Not only would it mean my floors staying significantly cleaner all day long, but it’s one job that I can rely on someone (or something) else to take responsibility for.

This eufy robot vacuum is designed to clear up all types of debris from your carpets and floors, from crumbs and craft bits, to pet hair. It vacuums and mops; and you can designate which rooms need which type of cleaning - for instance, you can set the living room to only be vacuumed, meaning the carpet won't get wet with the mop setting. You can also set 'no go' areas, so the robot knows not to clean certain areas of the house. This is a good idea if you don't want the robot entering the playroom and vacuuming up tiny pieces of LEGO.

If you own a dog or cat, and sometimes they leave little ‘surprises’ of poop on the floor, this eufy vacuum is programmed to recognise the shape of the poop and avoid it – removing the threat of those memes we’ve all seen of robot vacuums spreading it all over the house.

Technical details of the eufy x10 Pro Omni robot

What makes this robot vacuum cleaner stand out? Here’s some of the technical information that makes the eufy so efficient:

The x10 Pro Omni has a multi-directional floating roller brush, which sits close to the surface of the carpet. As it spins, the rubber and bristles work together to lift up and remove debris – whether that’s crumbs, glitter, mud, or pet hair.

It features what’s called the ‘MopMaster 2.0™ system’, meaning it can remove stains with one kilogram of pressure and two rotating mops. This mopping system has been upgraded from previous eufy models, and features a new built-in water tank that keeps the mopping pads continuously wet.

With pressure levels reaching 8,000 Pascal and the Active Detangling™ roller brush that self-cleans, it’s great on all types of flooring.

The robot vacuum avoids obstacles such as furniture – or toys left on the floor – thanks to AI.See™, using 3D sensors and an AI camera.

Pentagonal-shaped, 360°-rotating mopping pads ensure the cleaner can reach every inch of the floor, including into tight corners.

The Omni Station charging base is where the robot vacuum will return to self-empty its dust bin and water tank, wash its mopping pads, and drying them with 113° F hot air to prevent the growth of bacteria and unpleasant odours. The robot also automatically refills its built-in water tank with clean water so it's ready for the next mopping session.

The charging base is also features an integrated comb, which helps to detangle hairs and fur from the roller brush, and then vacuums them into the dust bin.

You can also download the eufy Clean app, allowing you to schedule cleaning times, restrict areas, or clean specific areas at set time. The app also shows you updates on the robot and the charging station.

Does the eufy x10 Pro Omni robot vacuum make life as a mum easier?

As a busy working mum of two young children, I can easily recommend investing in this eufy robot vacuum cleaner - it really does make like easier.

Setting up the robot was easy and straight-forward; download the Clean app and it's intuitive to set up your home's layout, and set what type of cleaning can be done in each room. You can set an after-meal clean, and designate it to vacuum just the area around your table.

You do have to make sure the floors are clear of any tiny toys, LEGO, or wires that the robot could get tangled in; but it's a good exercise for getting the kids involved in tidying up, and they love watching the robot do its work.

Another reason why I like this eufy robot vacuum is that it is designed to maintain itself, removing the need for me to worry about fixing it when it gets clogged up. Once it’s finished cleaning, it will take itself off to the charging station to recharge its power, to suck out the dirt, and empty the dirty water from mopping. You have to keep the clean water tank topped up, and the dirty water cleaned out, but other than that you just leave it to its own devices.

We don’t own a dog or cat but we do have a rabbit, and he can shed hair like the best type of Husky or Golden Retriever; I was pleased to see how easily his fur was picked up by the eufy vacuum.

Having the eufy robot vacuum has made my life easier because it’s one job that I now don’t have to worry about; the floors can always be clean without me lugging the old vacuum out. It’s one item off my mental load – and for this I am grateful to the invention of the robot vacuum.

The only thing I wish is that it could climb the stairs and do both floors of the house at once.
