Mother and Baby writer, Hannah visited LEGOLAND Woodland Village in July 2024 during the six week holidays with two four-year-old children and a friend. They stayed at Legoland Woodland Village.
When we heard that Legoland Windsor was opening the brand new Legoland Woodland Resort, we just had to check it out. The new resort features 150 Lego-style lodges, an on-site restaurant, and a family entertainment hub, and as the name suggests, it's all woodland-themed. Here at Mother&Baby, we're big fans of one of the UK's top family theme parks. It's one of our favourite tourist spots, and most of our writers have made lifelong memories with their families at this fantastic UK destination.
Unlike the Legoland Windsor Castle Hotel, the Legoland Woodland Village isn't technically inside the Legoland park but sits just opposite. However, you can spot it as soon as you enter the Legoland car park, and the excitement kicks in right then and there. Crafted to absolute perfection, every detail is spot-on—from the tiny Lego squirrels on the logs to the instantly recognisable Lego tree leaves on the ceiling. It's clear that every element has been meticulously thought out.
The woodland village is deceivingly larger than it looks from the onset. However, the clubhouse is at the entrance, where you can find helpful maps to locate your accommodation. Checking in was ridiculously easy, and although the staff were on the side to help, the machines were incredibly user-friendly. I loved watching my wooden room key come out of the machine within a matter of minutes - it's the little things, after all. 99
The clubhouse at Legoland Woodland Village features a spacious dining area, a cosy (yet expensive) little shop, and immaculately clean toilet facilities. This area really has a wow factor, enhanced by the subtle sound of chirping birds that creates a delightful woodland atmosphere without being overbearing.
Just a heads up: you'll need to book your meals in advance, and changing reservation times can be a bit tricky. We made the mistake of scheduling our meal right when the park closed, which meant rushing from the park (thankfully just a few minutes walk away) and diving straight into dinner without a chance to freshen up. Plan accordingly to avoid our little hiccup.
One of my favourite features of the clubhouse is the Lego corners for kids - toddler-friendly Duplo corners for smaller children and a lava pit full of standard Lego pieces. Instead of impatiently waiting for their food, kids can dive into a world of Lego play, giving parents a chance to chill out and maybe even enjoy a delicious cocktail in peace. It's another brilliant example of Lego's magic, captivating your little ones' imagination and making the whole experience even more special for everyone.
We had a blast meeting Acorn Boy at the clubhouse—he’s an adorable Lego character who was thrilled to snap pics with the whole family. The Legoland staff even sang songs with the kids, adding a touch of fun to our evening. While the entertainment might not rival the excitement of a Haven’s clubhouse, it was just right for us after a full day of theme park adventures. We definitely didn't have the strength for a fully-fledged kids' disco.
Food at the Legoland Woodland Village
The food was absolutely incredible, and I was thrilled that the children's menu exceeded the usual offering of chicken nuggets or fish fingers. My four-year-old devoured an extremely generous portion of spaghetti bolognese in record time, giving me a tomatoey grin of approval when I asked how it tasted. The meals are set up so you can choose either two or three courses, which was perfect for my hungry pasta monster. However, when I asked if you could have one course, I was told it was less value for money (costing around £18 for a single meal). So, plan for a complete dining experience, and enjoy every delicious bite.
With stomachs full, we headed to our accommodation. The kids were delighted that we had a small play area right outside our front door. Upon further inspection, this seemed to be common for all of the areas in the woodland village, with the largest play park located next to the club. This is really useful as each cabin has a small decking area where you can watch the children play while relaxing.
What are the rooms like at the Legoland Woodland Village?
As you'd expect from a brand-new resort, the accommodation at the Legoland Woodland Resort is flawless. Our cabin had everything we needed: a comfy double bed, a small bathroom, and a kids' room with a triple bunk bed. The beds were super comfy, and the room had a cosy projector light that made it feel homely. After a full day exploring Legoland, the little ones didn’t take long to drift off to dreamland.
One of my favourite features was the TV in the room, pre-loaded with Lego movies, which gave me a rare chance for a morning lie-in. The kids' room was a hit with a small Lego station and a scavenger hunt that led to a safe filled with fun toys. We may have counted a few more butterflies than required, which turned our scavenger hunt into a bit of a safe-cracking adventure, but the toys inside were well worth the extra effort.
The room comes with all the standard amenities you'd expect, including a small fridge perfect for stashing water bottles and snacks—definitely a must if you're planning more than one day at the park. There's also a kettle for brewing up a good cup of tea because what’s a family getaway without an early cuppa on the outside decking?
Overall thoughts on the Legoland Woodland village
This cabin is spot-on for families with slightly older children, but it might be a bit tricky if you’re bringing a baby due to the limited floor space and a couple of steps into the cabin. No worries, though—various cabin styles are available, from charming smaller cabins to spacious two-storey apartments, so that you can pick the perfect fit for your family's needs.
Is it worth staying at Legoland?
For me, it’s a big thumbs up! Whether you choose the Legoland Hotels or the new Woodland Village (which I’d definitely recommend), staying at Legoland lets you fully explore the park, even with the Ride and Reserve system—seriously, it’s worth its weight in gold. Trying to cram everything into one day can be exhausting, so staying for two days is a much more relaxed way to enjoy everything the park has to offer, including the new Lego Golf Centre.
One slight letdown was that if you’re staying at the Legoland Woodland Village, you can’t use the swimming pool facilities at the hotel. But honestly, after a thrilling day at the park, I’m not sure we had the energy for a swim anyway.
