Nursery decor ideas

Since the beginning of the year, interior design has been at the forefront of many people’s minds. Painting all the walls, making sure the home office is functional, and sprucing up the kitchen.

But there is nothing more exciting than getting creative with the space where your precious little love will spend their nights snoozing away.

There are so many gorgeous nursery and kids bedroom décor ideas and toddler bedroom ideas out there at the moment, but where do you start?

Gender-neutral

Gone are the days of pink being purely for girls and blue for boys. We are seeing more of a gender-neutral theme to current trends, and it’s really refreshing.

Nature

Wanderlust brought a strong travel theme to nursery décor last year and we're expecting more of the same in 2022, drawing upon inspiration from places far and wide. Think safari and ocean themes, global wall features, animal print, coastal themes and photos of faraway destinations.

Boho

Boho is predicted to be a growing trend for 2022, with botanicals, macrame wall hangings, houseplants, pastels and earthy colours such as browns and terracotta being heavily featured against clean whites. Natural materials such as wood, rattan and cane also bring the outdoors in for a bit of Boho chic, making your nursery space feel warm, cosy and relaxed, whilst staying close to nature.

Scandinavian and Nordic vibes are still very on-trend too, creating a light, calm and uncluttered feel to a room. It’s all about the clean lines and comfy textures.

Bright colours

We’ve also seen lots of rainbow themes with strong pops of colour, as well as more vintage décor ideas, including ginghams, florals, gold accessories and vintage prints. The experts at Babysense found that in 2021, white, black, and monochrome were the most popular colours for nurseries, but for this year they're already beginning to see growing popularity in bright colours and green and pink.

Disney and Pixar

One thing that is apparent at the moment is that a year of big change has definitely been reflected in interior design trends. It’s now all about bringing that warm, cosy, comfortable and relaxed feel into the room, with hints of nostalgia. Many of us grew up watching Disney and Pixar movies, so it’s no surprise that as adults we want to bring that magic into the décor of our children's rooms.

According to the experts at Babysense, the most popular themes gaining popularity this year include 'The Princess & the Frog', 'Aladdin', 'Snow White', 'Moana', and 'Bambi'. We're talking cute, cuddly characters, theme crossovers with nature, and loveable stories for adults and children alike.

Whatever your style, there is something out there for everyone. We’ve taken a look at what’s on-trend at the moment, and want to share some of the most wonderful products that will make your little one’s nursery feel as special as they are.
