When packing your baby changing bag it is easy to feel overwhelmed and to stuff it to the brim with every parenting item you've ever owned.

We have given you our hospital bag checklist but now, new father Tom Daley who previously talked to us about everything from his son Robbie Ray to surrogacy to parenting advice gives us the scoop on what essentials he always packs in his changing bag_._

If you are expecting and need help picking out the perfect changing bag, check out our Mother & Baby Awards Shortlist 2019 which features the best changing bags as recommended by our fabulous mum testers.

"Before Lance and I became Dads, we thought we’d need everything but the kitchen sink when it came to an outing with baby Robbie, but as time went on and we’ve settled in as a family, we’ve realised you really don’t need that much at all!" Tom Daley tells Mother & Baby.

"We now take just the essentials, but they really are essentials things we definitely couldn’t be without."

Red Castle Cocoonababy1 of 6

1) Red Castle Cocoonababy

It doesn’t quite fit in the changing bag, but we really wouldn’t be without the Red Castle Cocoonababy! It’s so handy when we’re on the go with Robbie and he can still sleep comfortably on any surface. It’s super lightweight and supports the natural curve of his body for a better and deeper sleep.

Pampers Pure Nappies 2 of 6

2) Pampers Pure Nappies (available at all major retailers)

We’re pretty picky about the things that we buy and use that go against Robbie’s skin. The new Pure range from Pampers is perfect for parents like Lance and I who want kind-to-skin products without having to compromise on performance. The Pure Protection nappies are made from premium cotton and plant-based materials but deliver exactly the same performance to keep Robbie dry through the night. Not to mention the same wetness indicator which still blows my mind!

Pampers Pure Aqua Wipes3 of 6

3) Pampers Pure Aqua Wipes (available at all major retailers)

Part of the Pure Prection range, the Aqua Pure Wipes are made with 99% water & organic cotton so they’re super gentle against Robbie's skin too.

 Frugi Baby clothing4 of 6

4) Frugi Baby clothing

Wherever we go a spare change of clothes, not only for Robbie, but sometimes for Lance and I come too! You never know what might happen! We love Frugi for baby clothes and blankets and bedding is from Done & Dono. I actually began buying baby clothes way before Robbie arrived. It’s so nice to take the time to pick out outfits Lance and I love.

Muslin Cloths5 of 6

5) Muslin Cloths

We always carry a few muslin cloths/bibs from Mothercare or John Lewis. They’re handy for mopping up any spills when feeding Robbie but feel soft against his delicate skin. We have a lot of these as we tend to go through them fairly quickly!

Tommee Tippee Bottle6 of 6

6) Tommee Tippee Bottle

Robbie is growing fast so we always have Tommy Tippee bottles in the changing bag to feed him on-the-go. They’re a good size and don’t leak at all. It’s honestly one of the best moments when he’s looking up at you whilst feeding him. He’s got the life too eh!
