Whether it’s making meals, reading bedtime stories or chauffeuring your family around, time has a habit of disappearing when you’re a mum. And it’s been revealed just how little time mums have to them themselves.
17 minutes. That’s all the time an average mum has to herself a day, a new study reveals.
Polling 2,000 mums, the TVbed.com study found that 51 per cent of mums can go weeks without even a single minute relaxing on their own and nearly three quarters of those polled feel they live their lives entirely for others.
Half of the mums admitted that they don’t have time for their own hobbies or interests.
Half of the mums admitted that they don’t have time for their own hobbies or interests. In fact, 55 per cent said that the highlight of their week was catching up on TV programmes.
But these shocking figures don’t apply to dads, it would seem. The results also showed that mums do 78 per cent of the housework and seven in 10 women think their partner has more time to himself – which one in five women resent. Make sure you know how to solve yourparenting style clash.
And how are those spare (and rare) 17 minutes spent? Planning the next day, said 40 per cent of those polled. Sound familiar?
