The Kegel Smart 2 pelvic floor trainer is designed to help get stronger and healthier pelvic floor muscles. It has cordless operation and comes with a charger, so no batteries required and a matching bright pink soft bag to keep it in.

The product advertises a number of benefits for women at different stages of life. It retails for £89.90 at the full price, which is the most expensive trainer within their range, but not the most expensive pelvic floor trainer on the market.

Our mum reviewer tested this product after having two children later in life, so this was also testing for bladder strength during menopause too.

On opening the box I found the instructions to be very small and had to photograph and enlarge them. The instructions on the outside of the box are the better ones. The instructions are very simple, no complex setting up process, no programme settings to understand, it’s a very simple switch on and go.

The programme lasts for 5 minutes and clearly indicates when it’s over. It’s not uncomfortable to use at all and is very quiet and discreet. The sessions are extremely easy to follow, you are instructed to contract your muscles along with the pattern of vibrations. The programmes alter in line with your muscle strength to gradually improve your pelvic floor over time. Because the patterns of exercise are controlled with specific and clear contraction and rest periods, there is not need for counting or timing, this adds to the simplicity of the product.

Practising pelvic floor exercising is clearly something that all women need to regularly do and so many forget about. This handy unobtrusive ‘gadget’ provides a very short programme that can be followed easily without impacting on your day, but ensuring you focus on this very important exercise.

It’s often easy to forget about these important exercises until you realise that the weak muscles are having a detrimental effect on your everyday life. Although it would be great to have the discipline to follow exercises religiously and do them correctly, for me, that discipline is not there and there is always another priority. This product has demonstrated that if the exercises are carried out correctly and regularly, it only takes a very small amount of time every day to have a transformational affect.

Final verdict

Even with all good intentions, these exercises are something that I don’t generally do without a prompt and this device provided the prompt needed to do them regularly because it wasn’t a chore. I’d definitely recommend this product to anyone who doesn’t have the discipline or feel they have time to do adequate pelvic floor exercise or if they are unsure what to do. Overall, I would give this product 4 stars out of 5, I have definitely felt an improvement from using this product.
