Australian research on children with same-sex parents has highlighted both positive and negative results
Children with same-sex parents are healthy, happy and part of strong family units.
That’s the result of a new University of Melbourne study into family dynamics, which looked at a total of 500 children and 315 same-sex parents.
It highlighted that the kids had a high level of health and general family together-ness, perhaps because of the roles both parents play in the household.

Lead researcher Simon Crouch addresses the idea that responsibilities and childcare are shared more equally in a same-sex couple, based on ability rather than gender, which ultimately leads to more harmony at home… and plus points for a child’s overall health.
But, Crouch also flagged up the stigma that two thirds of the children have experienced because of their parents’ relationship.
‘What we have found is that the more stigma these families experience the greater the impact on the social and emotional wellbeing of children,’ he says.
