Whether you're regretting a cropped haircut, have struggled with post-pregnancy hair-loss or are seethingly jealous every time you watch Tangled and see Rapunzel effortlessly sweep the floor with her hair (show-off!) - growing your locks can feel like a slow process.
Luckily, there are little tips and tricks that will help you on your luscious hair-growth journey.
Here are 16 easy hacks for growing your hair faster and longer...
How to grow your hair faster
1) Eat foods rich in biotin
Almonds, peanuts, pecans, walnuts, eggs, milk, cheese, pork, cooked liver, salmon, sardines, avocado and cauliflower. All these biotin rich foods will help your hair grow.
2) Massage your head every day
This is known as the inversion method. If you massage your scalp with your fingertips for five minutes once a day for seven consecutive days your hair will be sure to grow. Use a timer so you are continuously massaging and make sure you sit on a chair and bend your head over to make the blood go to your head, this works very well.
3) Try hair growth tablets
Vitamins play a vital role in hair growth and sometimes it can be difficult getting all the nutrients you need from your diet. Introducing hair growth supplements which provide your body with everything it needs to growth long, lucious hair.
We're fans of Sugarbearhair hair vitamins which are packed with a nourishing formula of Biotin, Folic Acid and vitamin C for healthy hair and nails. Even Kim Kardashian is a fan!
4) Use apple cider vinegar
Rinsing your hair with ACV will provide you with all the essential nutrients, cleanses your scalp and hair for treating hair that may be falling out. Using this ACV rinse will promote healthy hair growth.
5) Try homemade hair masks
From honey and lemon to avocado and olive oil, there are plenty of options that will moisturize your hair, make it silky smooth, and enable to grow to its full potential. Also try an egg white mask – this supposedly works wonders.
6) Drink water
Drink at least eight glasses of water a day, making sure you’re hydrated is essential and it can promote hair growth.
7) Invest in salon treatments
Salons always know best so get a re strengthening treatment or deep conditioning treatment which is sure to get your locks growing.
8) Change to silk pillow cases
The satin retains moisture and stops the friction you get with cotton pillow cases which can cause damage or frizz to your hair. We love these silk pillow cases by Hairburst.
9) End your shower with cold water
By doing a cold rinse before getting out you’ll seal your hair for healthy, shiny locks which are sure to be growing soon enough.
10) (Try!) to stay stress-free
Stress is one of the most important factors that contribute to hair loss. It is believed that stress can disrupt the normal hair cycle, so if you're looking for your locks to grow then minimise the stress! Easier said then done...
11) Protect your hair from the elements
The sun, air pollution, and pool chlorine are among the environmental elements that can damage your hair. Wear a hat in the sun, cover your hair in polluted places and wear a swiming cap when in pools!
12) Use coconut oil
Coconut oil stimulates hair growth by penetrating deep into the follicles and provides amazing moisturisation for dry hair. It contains anti-bacterial properties to soothe an ichy or flakey scalp. This all in turn helps the hair grow.
13) Don’t tie your hair up too tightly
While you are on your hair mission, try to avoid tying your hair very tightly. You don't want to cause any unnecessary pulling which can result in breakage, splits and snags.
14) Don’t brush or wash your hair too often
Resist washing your hair every day and only ever brush your hair for no more that five to ten minutes every day. Especially do not brush when your hair is wet as it is likely to break.
15) Airdry your hair instead of using heat
Avoid applying heat to your hair and let it dry naturally. If you do use a hairdryer and afterwards straighteners, make sure you are using a heat protective spray to keep your hair healthy and growing.
16) Trim your hair often
Having your hair trimmed every eight to ten weeks actually keeps it healthier and more likely to continue growing.
