Is today your birthday, or your baby’s or has your sister just given birth? Congratulations – it turns out you were born on the most popular birth date in the UK.
According to the Office for National Statistics, the most popular date to be born over the last two decades is September 26th. Whilst the average daily births on most days is near 1,800, on September 26th this is close to 2,000.
Why is September 26th the most popular birth day?
It doesn’t take a genius to do the math – if your baby is born today, it means you conceived around Christmas day! Whether that’s because you planned to have your baby at the beginning of the school year, on September 26th (39 weeks and two days after Christmas day), or decided to try for a baby in the New Year, you’ve given birth on the most popular day of the year.
