Gentle enough to use while breastfeeding, without having to worry about wiping it off before baby latches, but effective at healing cracked and damaged nipples, testers praised Lansinoh HPA Lanolin Nipple Cream highly.

This product was a lifesaver in the first few days and weeks of breastfeeding. I have breastfed all three of my children and have relied on this product every time. As soon as my nipples became sore and cracked I applied a generous amount of the HPA lanolin nipple cream and would feel some relief immediately. I also believe it helped them to heal much quicker than they would have if I hadn't used it. I love the fact that it is safe for babies so I didn't have to worry about wiping it away before every feed. Plus I discovered it's great for sore lips, so an extra bonus too.

Lorna: This product definitely made my life easier as a new mum. It was an easy decision to buy this brand to pop in my hospital bag and I wouldn’t have considered any other brand. The product worked quickly, it was very soothing and really helped to protect sore cracked nipples. When my babies started teething they would sometimes bite when feeding and this product was brilliant if they accidentally caught me. I have also used a little bit of this product on the seams/binding of cloth nappies which helps soften them rubbing against my babies skin.

And this cream made such a difference – it was easy to put on, comes in a small portable tube and felt like it worked quickly. Jessica: I would 100 per cent recommend this product to others (and have done so many times!) It is the best nipple cream I have come across on the market and I love the fact it comes in a tube that is hygienic for both mum and baby. The small tube also makes it really easy to pop into the changing bag and take it out and about, but as you don't need to apply much each time the amount in a tube still lasts a long time. I had a few tubes, one for at home and one I kept in my bag so I was never without it.

Final verdict

Lorna: I would choose this product without hesitation because it is a long-established trusted brand. It was originally recommended by my midwife and my experience of using it with three babies confirms my personal confidence in the benefits of the product. I like that the product is widely available and that different sizes are available. I bought the small tube for my hospital bag which is now a cute lip balm.

Katherine: I tried a cheaper alternative to this product and I don't feel I had the same positive experience. This product was more superior and more effective than alternative similar products. I have recommended it to friends to use when breastfeeding and even bought it for some friends. I rate it very highly and essential for your hospital bag.

Stephanie: Yes, I continued to purchase this nipple cream, I went through two tubes in the first couple of months. There wasn't much our testers thought could be improved with this product, all of them agreed it was a "boob lifesaver!" One suggested a pump dispenser, to make it easier to use with one hand, and make it easier to use every single bit - as the tube made it tricky to get it all out. Others commented on the price, but agreed it was a worthwhile investment when it works.
