Testing the Matchstick Monkey Gigi Giraffe Teether
This teether is specifically designed to be gripped easily by little hands and allow their little jaws to really get around the giraffe to ease those sore spots. Our mum testers agreed with this and also commented on how nice the packaging and design was
"The product was nicely packaged and easy to see exactly what was included. My child particularly liked the pattern and would constantly pick the teether out from his toy box. He found it very easy to hold in different ways. The Toothbrush was also very easy to use and made it extremely easy to get right to the back of his gums with minimal fuss."
Suitable for both boys and girls with a cute unisex design, the set also comes complete with a tiny silicone finger toothbrush. These are the best first step towards a proper toothbrush for your baby and mums loved how their little ones reacted to their first teeth clean and how it also worked for applying teething gels.
"This is a great teething toy and I think our daughter has got on really well with it. The design of the giraffe's arms makes it easy for our baby to hold on her own. She can get a good grip of it and pull it to her mouth. We really like the different options in the set including the flat faced teether. When we tested the finger brush we got a positive reaction from our baby as it was a good massage on her gums. When she was teething really badly we put some teething gel on the tooth brush head and this helped to settle her. The set is great because it will grow with our baby on her teething journey."
As well as the Giraffe and silicone brushes, you also get a flat teether in the set, but some parents found their babies preferred the Giraffe the most. The main reasons why mums would recommend it is due to its durability – something which is essential for teething toys.
"We put the flat faced teether in the fridge and our baby found this really soothing on her gums. However we did notice that our baby does not tend to gravitate towards the flat faced teether as much as the giraffe option and seems to get bored of it quicker. This is a quality product. You can tell that the rubber is of a really good quality and we had no concern that the toy would get damaged or break. It is hygienic and very easy to clean quickly, which is important as a busy mum. We also loved the design and that matchstick offer different colours and animal options, which we think would make a great gift."
Final thoughts
Despite the higher price tag, our mum testers felt this was a really reliable teething set, complete with everything you need to keep your baby's gums feeling as pain free as possible.
One issue that did come up more than once is how easy it was to lose the Giraffe, so our mums agreed it would be improved with the addition of a dummy clip which could easily attach to babies clothes for easy access whenever they needed it.
Not only did our testers think this would make a lovely gift, they also agreed on how lovely the design was and loved the addition of the silicone toothbrush and flat teether, and their teething tots seemed to love it too.
