You can't hold your baby all the time, even though you may want to, which is where a baby carrier comes in handy. Gold winner for Best Baby Carrier/ Sling or Back Carrier in our 2023 Mother&Baby Awards, the Nuna CUDL in softened denim makes it easy to keep baby close and secure, all while keeping your hands free.

Keep baby facing in and snuggled up starting with an integrated infant booster for newborns, which then easily unzips as your child grows. As baby wants to explore the world, have them face out or switch to backpack mode for growing toddlers.

Suitable from birth to 3 years, CUDL is ergonomically designed to support both baby and parent and magnetic buckles make taking little one in and out a breeze.

Testing the Nuna CUDL

Easy to put on by yourself and wear for long periods, the Nuna CUDl meant that our testers could easily get on with anything they needed to around the house while their baby felt secure and safe at all times. Some testers even found it useful to take the CUDL with them in the car so they could avoid taking the pushchair when taking a quick trip to the shops.

"It makes long walks a lot easier as it is so comfortable for me and my daughter, she really felt supported and so did I!" tester Georgia told us. "It feels very secure and is easy to use and adjust to different sizes and age ranges."

"This is a fantastic carrier, especially for smaller mothers like me. It’s very easy to put on and fit and we love that you can easily undo the buckles quietly to transfer a sleeping baby out of the sling," added Evie.

Our parent testers were really impressed with how much Nuna had considered the little things when it came to designing the CUDL. Popular features with our testers include the magnetic closures, integrated sun hood, the side pocket on the belt which is easy to reach and fits a large smartphone and keys comfortably and the GOTS-certified organic cotton bibs which come with the carrier.

"The bib attachment to the front of the CUDL is great for forward facing especially as little ones like to suck on the front of the sling. We love how easy it is to then remove the bib and wash it without needing to wash the entire thing."

Final thoughts

Some testers commented that while they loved how adjustable the Velcro waistband was, they were worried that it wouldn't have the longevity of a buckle belt through multiple children and that it would be less easy to fix should it wear. One mum would love to see a loop or holder of some sort on the carrier so they could carry a bottle of water on a long walk.

On the whole, our testers felt the CUDL was priced fairly in comparison to other similar products on the market and that it was by far the best carrier they had used. They thought the design was stylish and comfortable for both parent and baby to and that it felt really sturdy and long-lasting.

While not every tester loved the Softened Denim colour, the CUDL is also available in two other colour choices.

Review: "I got this when my baby was a few months old and she took to it immediately. It was really easy to put on and take off, even if I was on my own, although it took me a couple of goes with the clips to get used to them. I found it so simple to adjust and make sure there was a snug fit for baby. I have used another carrier but this one is brilliant for the summer especially, it doesn't make me as hot when carrying baby. Would definitely recommend!"

Pros

  • breathable mesh
  • removable wristlet pouch
  • integrated breeze cover and hood

Cons

  • Magnetic clips can be fiddly at first
