What we say:

With a 3.5” portable LCD colour screen and an under-mattress movement sensor pad, this versatile monitor lets you monitor your baby easily wherever you are – and you can even adjust the camera angle remotely.

This monitor will alert you if no movement is detected in your baby’s cot after 20 seconds. It also has a soothing night light and temperature display.

The Angelcare AC1300 screen provides a clear image and the camera rotates so you can get the best angle. It’s an impressive piece of kit and works well but setting it up isn’t easy. It requires additional equipment such as a hardboard for the sensor board to sit on, and extra batteries. The battery life on the parent unit was quite poor.

Tested by Rebecca Shepherd, from Lincoln, mum to Sophie, six months. She said:

This is my favourite of all of the monitors tested. The device is sleek and slim enough to slip in my pocket when going from room to room. It looks pretty in Sophie's room and is easy to operate. After trying the sensor pad we wouldn’t be without it. Expensive overall but well worth the money for peace of mind.

This baby monitor has lots of extra features but you need patience to set it up. If you want to monitor your baby’s every movement whilst in the cot, then this is the one for you. it also offers a few different options to help get baby get back to sleep, too. Overall it’s really practical but not especially stylish.

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would definitely recommend the Angelcare AC1300, it’s so easy to use. Easy to set up. An all-round excellent product.

How did this product make your life easier?

This made life a lot easier at night for me. With the normal monitors, if my baby made a noise I had to go upstairs to make sure he was ok. Since I have been using the product it's been so much easier for me all I have to do is look at the montor to make sure the kids are fine.

What changes would you make to this product?

The sound of the parent unit could be a bit stronger.

Would you recommend this Angelcare AC1300 to other mums?

I would recommend this to a friend because it really does have everything you need as a parent to have complete peace of mind that your baby is safe. I can hear and see that my baby is safe and I know that it will alarm me if he hasn't moved or the temperature isn't right. The design is great too, I love the neutral colours that will go in any room or nursery.

How did this product make your life easier?

This Angelcare AC1300 definitely made my life easier as a mum because I don't have to worry about my baby when he is sleeping. The nightlight also helps me see enough in the room without waking him up by turning on a bright light. Being able to pan and zoom helps me see my baby whatever angle I need to see him clearly especially as he moves in his sleep. I can walk around my house without feeling like I need to be looking at the monitor as it will alarm me if something is wrong.

Would you choose this product to win?

I love the neutral design and the wide screen is great to see all I need to see. They've thought of everything - I know my baby is safe and the temperature is right giving me complete peace of mind.

What changes would you make to this product?

If I could change one thing about this product it would be that it had a two way communication talk back feature. This way I could settle my baby without going in to his room which would mean it wouldn’t disturb my evening so much if I’m eating - I could just settle him from where I was. I know other monitors have this feature.

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I like the sensor pad & video. I would recommend to a friend to read the instructions very carefully from beginning to end. I found it a little difficult to set up because the alarm kept going off and I missed one small sentence about how to save the settings, and obviously the sound of an alarm going off didn't help my frustration with the product. Took me a couple of days to find the instructions for turning up the sound on the monitor - it was one label on a diagram in the entire booklet!

How did this product make your life easier?

I can leave my baby to settle by herself quietly, as she seems to prefer it once I have left the room, so I can keep an eye on her as she falls asleep. She also suffers from eczema so I can use the video to see if she is starting to scratch her face, then I can go in to her to resettle her and calm her. I know the sound will pick up her noises when she wakes, so I also don't have to have the video on all the time which drains the battery.

Would you choose this product to win?

I love how crystal clear the display is, even with night vision. I can see if my baby's eyes are open or closed, as she often wakes without making any sound. The sensor pad brings me comfort and makes me less anxious about her breathing. I think the combination of the sensor pad with the crystal-clear display is what makes this so special.

What changes would you make to this product?

I would alter the monitor on/off switch so that when I switched off the monitor, it would keep the light on. At the moment the monitor on/off switch also switches off the light, even though the light has its own on/off switch. This would mean I could lift my baby out to feed her and still see what I am doing.
