Testing the CuboAi Smart Baby Monitor 3
The camera and stand were both packaged really well and kept the product safely protected, however, the overall set did come in several different deliveries so it was hard to keep on top of. It would be nice of the packages came in a more eco-friendly box as there was a lot of plastic packaging overall.
I was really excited to get this camera set up, as I'd heard really good things about the CuboAI baby monitors so I was keen to put the new CuboAI Smart Monitor 3 to the test.
Build
Building the camera stand was really straight forward. All the parts came individually packaged and clearly labelled so you could easily orchestrate opening the next package following through the instructions.
The most challenging part of the build for me was I found it a bit fiddly to thread the power cable through the frame whilst connecting the arms of the stand together. Although with that being stand, it didn't take more than five minutes to do.
I think the overall quality is brilliant - I can really see this monitor lasting us.
While I really liked that sleep sensor pad too, I feel as thought batteries and the right size screw driver for this should have been included as it could be set up and used straight away then, but it this is only a minor issue and it was easy enough to get the right batteries to include.
Usability
Everything was really easy to connect together, including setting up the app. I know a lot of people have concerns over baby monitors which use WiFi, which the CuboAi Smart Monitor 3 does use, however we have a secure connection with our own code rather than the standard one provided, and having this also meant we weren't limited to where we could use the monitor. Friends have said they are restricted with their baby monitors when in the garden but we didn't have this issue.
Performance
While I thought that the monitor seemed stable enough, I did have some concerns that when my baby is bigger they will be able to knock it over when toddling about, but luckily this monitor is one step ahead of the game and it includes a crib stabiliser.
For parents who have poorly children or anxiety, I think the sleep pad and camera combination can massively help, and even for first-time parents like myself. The notifications are quick to come through when your baby's face is covered by a blanket or if they've rolled over. I think it's really reassuring the quick response, as it allows you to respond a lot quicker and get to your baby quicker.
Another feature I really liked was you are notified on humidity and temperature. We live in a new build house which is good at keeping heat in, but it's really good to see if the room is getting too hot or too cold so we can strip a layer or add a layer where needed.
As new parents sleep is limited but these wonderful features of the monitor really do feel like they ensure my partner and I both get a much better quality sleep, as we know the Cubo has a watchful eye on the baby as well. The HD night mode is also really impressive too. I found with other brands I struggled to make out where the baby was but this is no problem and the quality is extremely clear!
Final verdict
Overall I think this is a really good baby monitor, especially for a first-time parent. It offers lots of thoughtful features you wouldn't consider, such as the roll-over and covered-face detection and as a first-time mum I found them really comforting to have.
In terms of value for money too, I would say considering all the features and convenience of having the baby monitor accessible from your phone, I think it's brilliantly priced. I feel like it allows access to some top of the range features for a really good price.
