At a glance:

Our panel of mum testers loved being able to connect the baby monitor to their phones to be able to see their little one when they are out and about. However, they found the Philips Avent uGrow Smart Baby Monitor to be a little on the expensive side compared to others in the category.

What they say:

"The Smart baby monitor enables you and your loved ones to watch over your little one from wherever you are. The app automatically switches between networks and optimizes audio and video quality for the best connection to your baby."

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend this product to friends and family as it’s quick and relatively easy to set up and so useful to check on my baby from my phone. The picture is clear meaning I have a great view of my toddler and what he is up to in his bedroom. It’s also really lightweight and easy to transport for a holiday or an overnight stay with grandparents! A really great product!

How has this product made your life easier?

I love that I can just look on my phone and know that my toddler is safe. It gives you complete ease of mind and it’s great that it can be fixed to the wall. The app is relatively easy and simple to use and I find this a really useful tool overall. This has definitely made life easier for us as a family.

Would you choose this product to win?

I would choose this product to win over the others because it’s so lightweight and easy to transport on holiday or to grandparents’ houses. It’s a small product and relatively easy to use and set up. I’m really happy with the product and its usability and love that it can be used with a phone app.

What changes would you make to this product?

I’ve not really got anything that I would change about this product as it really is robust and such a useful tool for helping watch your baby or toddler sleeping. It’s a great monitor and functions the way it should so I wouldn’t change much about it at all.

Would you recommend this to other mums?

It’s great being able to watch little ones when they sleep rather than just listening in. I love the fact I can see him and know when he’s awake or when he’s still sleeping. I also love the ability to watch remotely too and that the pan on the camera allows you to see when your baby has moved in the cot.

How has this product made your life easier?

I can watch from anywhere – if we are out and our little one is being babysat, we can keep an eye on him which gives us a great amount of peace of mind. His dad also loves the ability to be able to watch him sleep whilst he’s at work too, so this really is a great addition.

Would you choose this product to win?

Probably not – although the functions are great and I love the app and option of talkback, it’s so expensive. That said, there are huge benefits of being able to watch on your phone and not using another device.

What changes would you make to this product?

I would prefer the ‘on’ light to be dimmer as it’s quite bright – I was worried at first it would keep my baby up, but so far it hasn’t. I would also reduce the price a little, it’s very expensive at nearly £200 for a video and sound monitor – I would expect other features, such as a movement monitor for this price.

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would yes! The Philips Avent uGrow Smart Baby Monitor was easy to use and the screen was easily navigated. I loved that this monitor gave me better visibility, as I’m still a new mum in the stages where I panic if I can’t see my baby’s chest rise. I also liked that the camera was so maneuverable and felt sturdy on any surface I placed it on.

How has this product made your life easier?

As soon as I switched it on the camera was good to go. It was easy to use and enabled me to bob to different parts of the house and leave her, whilst still having a good view of the room. It was also really handy as I have cats in the house and it’s good to be able to see at a glance that they were keeping away from her, as the camera has the ability to do a complete 360.

Would you choose this product to win?

I liked the product but felt it was a little expensive. I currently have a similar product that has an inferior picture and is smaller, but does the same job. Saying that, I did enjoy the better visibility and I was disappointed going back to my old camera and screen. It looked and felt like a good quality product and I would definitely recommend it if you can afford it.

What changes would you make to this product?

I didn’t like the fact that if you’d switched off the camera and turned the screen on first the monitor gave off a little alarm. I did this several times and each time It woke my daughter up which is obviously a big no no!
