I’ve been kitting out the nursery of my little one as I prepare for their arrival in November, and one thing that always concerned me was monitors.

They’re such an essential part of baby safety, but there is so much information out there about what is good and bad, and everyone’s biggest fear – hacking. Most companies are trying to move forward with new products without this being even a slight risk, and I was happy to read how BabyMoov connects the camera and monitor. The connection process is simple pairing which only allows the monitor and the camera to connect, even other BabyMoov devices can’t interfere. As a first-time mum, reassurance is everything, so I’m feeling far more confident knowing that the set-up of my monitor is completely secure.

Testing the Babymoov YOO Moov 360° Video Monitor

While I’m yet to set up my monitor to be wall mounted, it will be once my little one moves into their own room and not sleeping in the next-to-me, but that will give me another reason to feel safe and secure. We all know accidents happen, but I wouldn’t want a camera falling into the cot with my baby, so being able to mount it allows me to not only keep it in the same place all the time, but also be confident that it will stay put.

The audio is crystal clear from both the monitor and the camera, so I can talk into it and have the baby hear me loud and clear, while noises from baby’s room are just as clear from the portable monitor. Nursery rhymes also play at my discretion in baby’s room with no muffles or echoes. The singular occasion there have been echoes was when I was setting it up and the two devices pinged off one another, but that’s to be expected.

Similarly, the video quality is perfect both during the day and at nighttime. If I need to, I can zoom in and out on the image, while another feature sees the camera move almost 360 degrees, which has been fantastic and means I can look at the baby regardless of how much they may wiggle in their cot.

I’m confident with the battery life in the BabyMoov because the monitor shows it on the main screen. It can last over eight hours, though out of habit I would make a routine of charging it overnight. It has an extremely long wire to go into a USB plug, though the plug isn’t provided. As for the camera, it does need to be plugged in all the time, but that gives me confidence that it won’t die!

I live in a three-Storey house and our nursery is on the top floor, so having a strong signal is of the utmost importance. Throughout the house, I get full bars, and when I go outside, I have only experienced a drop of just one bar, so I could go further if I needed to.

Final verdict

What I loved particularly; was how easy the whole device was to set up. As the battery is already included in the monitor and is just chargeable, I almost didn’t have to do a thing! Once I turned both devices on, it was instantly connected, and I was able to just have a play around with the buttons on the screen to figure out all the little extras.

The BabyMoov is just under £200, and while it’s on the pricier end, there isn’t a single thing that I would want in a monitor that this product doesn’t have, and for something that ticks all my boxes, I don’t mind spending a little more. From the 300m range, motor-controlled camera and the lullaby function, I am so impressed with this product. The only things I would change is to include a plug with the package and slightly different attachments so I could connect it to the next-to-me rather than needing to place it on a hard surface.
