At a glance:

The Caboo DXgo won gold this year and it’s not hard to see why. We love the gender neutral colour scheme, which works for little boys and girls as well as suiting both mum and dad very well. The fact that this carrier can be used on both the front and the back is second-to-none and all of our testers reported ease and comfort when strapped in.

What they say:

"Carry your little one perfectly supported in the right carrier, at the right age and stage without any compromise. This is a Close carrier that is designed to pack small whilst allowing little ones to ride front and back. Designed to partner with our award winning Caboo range providing the next step in your carrying journey. This is light, portable, compact and perfect for urban explorers, beach combers and countryside adventurers. A carrier that can be used on both the front and back."

Tested by mum Shannon Rees for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would definitely recommend this product to a fellow mum who needs something to carry her child in that is super easy to use. The design is great and suitable for babies of all ages which is great – I’ve found that a lot of carriers don't offer such a broad range of ages and weight. It was so comfortable for me to use; my daughter is quite heavy, so I was worried that I would struggle and my back would hurt, but the support it gives you is excellent and I was in no discomfort at all.

How did this product make your life easier?

This product makes my life so much easier as a mum as I often go for walks to the country park, where there are very uneven surfaces and using a pushchair is very difficult. Having the carrier is great because it means I can carry on going for my walks with my daughter and us both be happy and comfortable.

Would you choose this product to win?

Yes! I would choose the Caboo DXgo over all the others on the market because the design is flawless. For the price, the quality you receive is phenomenal. I personally think this product should win as the quality, design and structure is just fantastic! It's super easy to use and makes life a breeze.

What changes would you make to this product?

I personally wouldn't change anything about the product, I think it's fantastic! If I had to choose something, it would be to add a few more colours to choose from, for instance, a black or a navy blue.

Tested by mum Allana King for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I wish I had discovered this product sooner! I would certainly recommend the Caboo DXgo to other mummies and daddies too (my husband is desperate to try the carrier out). Design is spot on, it’s easy to roll up and squeeze into the attached bag, allowing for it to be carried about with us. Also, the carrier was a lovely soft material that didn't stick or pull on my clothing, which has been a problem with other carriers that I've tried.

How did this product make your life easier?

It's amazing being able to comfortably carry my 9-month-old baby around with me. I managed a good three hours before I felt any strain on my back, even so, once I removed the carrier and placed baby back in her pram my back eased up. We took a family walk to the beach which was something we haven't been able to do yet, as a pram and sand aren't compatible. It was lovely and refreshing to take our daughter to the sea for the first time! I wish I had discovered this product at an earlier stage, when my daughter required constant attention and demanded to be on my hip, I would have made great use of the Caboo even in the house.

Would you choose this product to win?

Yes! This carrier is extremely fashionable and comfortable, as previously mentioned it is a very durable material which allows your baby to move, whilst still providing sufficient support. It certainly tops my list of carriers, having tried a few others, this was definitely the most modern, stylish and practical that I have come across.

What changes would you make to this product?

I would have really enjoyed it if my baby could have been outward facing, as she's a little explorer who loves looking around. The only issue with this is that she was always facing towards my body, meaning she had to stretch around to look beyond me.  I also struggled with fastening the clip between my shoulder blades and was very lucky to have someone on hand each time I used it, otherwise I'm not too sure I would have managed.

Tested by mum Laura Hornsey for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would definitely recommend this to my mum friends with more than one child. The hands-free element is priceless and this is a must have product! It’s so handy to pop in my bag or the car without taking up too much space for school runs or trips to the park and shopping. My daughter happily fell asleep and felt well supported the whole time. Finally, I love the soft foldable leg gusset, it left no mark on her at all.

How did this product make your life easier?

This carrier is ideal for busy mums to get house work and chores done when their baby just wants to be held. I also think this product is ideal for school runs instead of lugging a buggy around!

Would you choose this product to win?

Yes as I just love how soft and supportive this carrier is. It felt soft and silky against us both, and is ideal for all weathers. The soft leg gussets make adjusting the carrier so easy and it’s great how compact it is in its own bag. It also comes in a lovely, subtle gender neutral colours ideal for both sex children and both parents to wear.

What changes would you make to this product?

The only thing that might improve the carrier is more lumber support for longer day wearing. It wasn't an issue on most occasions, but after a long walk at the sea side, my back ached a little. Having said that I wonder if this would compromise the compactness of the carrier which is such a plus factor?

Tested by mum Abigail Wilkinson for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend this carrier to other mums because it's easy to fold away or to shove under your pram. Also it’s easy to put on yourself, as you don't need to worry about asking someone else to help. I also loved the colour of the product the khaki colour stopped it getting dirty easily if baby decided to eat in it.

How did this product make your life easier?

I found this product easier as a mum as it gave me more freedom when cleaning or walking the dog, as it would save me time rather than using the pram. Also it was good for breastfeeding, as I could put my baby in the carrier and feed him at ease.

Would you choose this product to win?

Potentially, although I really liked it, I personally don’t think this carrier is the best one I've used. I love the design and it is certainly very good value for money, the instructions were easy to follow and I found it easy to put on by myself, but I think there are better carriers out there. As my baby is nearly one I felt like he was secure in the carrier but didn't have a lot of room to grow.

What changes would you make to this product?

I think the one thing I would change is the price as I think it is a little steep.

Tested by mum Claire Povey for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

Yes, I would definitely recommend this product to fellow mums. It is so easy to use and the sling itself folds into a small bag. I have found many carriers are bulky but this isn't. When it gets dirty it can be thrown into the washing machine. It’s very comfortable to wear and aesthetically pleasing -  I also love the ergonomics of the carrier, as it is so comfy for baby. I love that the carrier grows with baby and can go from front to back – my little girl just loves it.

How did this product make your life easier?

I absolutely love this product – it’s easy to use and really helps in my life! I have been able to get things done around the house when my little one is playing up. It’s also great for those moments when you just need to pop to the shop quickly and don't want to get the buggy out.

Would you choose this product to win?

I would choose this product over others because of the fact it is lightweight, compact and ergonomically friendly. I would also choose it to win because it gives you the option to carry your baby on your front and on your back. It feels like it has been really well thought out and that the product has been designed for both parent and baby – thank you Caboo!

What changes would you make to this product?

I don't think I can think of anything that I would change about this product, as I really do enjoy it a lot. However thinking about it long and hard, the only thing I can think to improve is maybe having a larger range of colours, as I feel that this would make the product appeal to more people.

Tested by mum Emma Johal for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend the Caboo DXgo to a fellow mum/friend due to it being very compact and lightweight. Babies tend to come with a lot of things that are needed to be taken out with you on all occasions. The fact that it compacts down so small and has the carry bag attached to it makes it easy to take with you even when carrying all those other things.

How did this product make your life easier?

This Caboo DXgo can make life easier as a mum as if you have a very clingy baby like mine then you can get on with varied household and daily tasks and have them with you. It's small so you can take it with you if you just need to quickly pop to the shops and get a few bits. You can just put them on your back like a backpack and head off to do what you need to.

Would you choose this product to win?

If I was choosing a rear facing carrier I would definitely choose this one. Mainly because of the fact it is so lightweight. If you have a little chunk like me you can really do with something that won't add further weight to you when you carry them. They feel supported and it's just so compact when folded away you can forget you even have it with you.

Tested by mum Jenny Highton for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

Having never even heard of the Caboo DXgo before I was very surprised to find it is extremely user friendly. It folds into a tiny little bag so is perfect for just popping in your bag incase you need it. It goes on so much quicker than a wrap but is such soft material it fits round baby like a stretchy.

How did this product make your life easier?

I have used a stretchy wrap with my little girl from birth which I love. I have recently been trying out a few other styles of carrier in order to support her a bit more now she's 10 months old and nosy! The Caboo DXgo is so easy to put on I will be taking it everywhere! It is perfect for just putting her in while I pop in the shop or somewhere.

Would you choose this product to win?

This Caboo DXgo, for me, does everything I want it to. I wanted something more supportive than a stretchy wrap, which this is, but at the same time it still holds her close and snug just like the stretchy. I love how easy it is to use and how comfortable it is and the material is perfect for keeping her cool in this hot weather.

What changes would you make to this product?

I think the Caboo DXgo is very well designed and I can't really fault any of its features, when in use. I did however find it quite difficult to get the hood into its storage pocket without folding and creasing it all up. I could also do with a guide showing how to fold it properly to get it back in its storage bag how it arrived.

Tested by mum Lucy Comfort for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

Lightweight carrier with lovely soft material, very good storage bag attached to it to keep all together and travels easily due to being lightweight! Available in a variety of colours and easy to access, I found the straps extremely comfortable while wearing and they didn't cut into my shoulders or armpits while carrying my son out and about and really helped with being able to be hands free for my 3 year old. Loved the colour and the material, the netted hood was a bonus on both the hot sunny day and the rainy day I used the product.

How did this product make your life easier?

The Caboo DXgo made my life easier with my son who is currently teething and will only relax being in my arms. So with him in the carrier meant I was able to get on with doing the things I needed to do! Was very easy to use while going to the shops and having my hands free for my 3 year old, while my son was also able to look around himself. Highly enjoyed being in there.

What changes would you make to this product?

I personally found my son enjoyed being in there, but his legs felt abit too wide apart and the fabric left red marks around his thighs. But all in all a lovely carrier!

Tested by mum Zoe Ward for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

The Caboo DXgo is easy to fold and the fact that the carry bag is attached is very handy and it can't get lost. The carrier is very lightweight and doesn't add weight to the child. It is comfy for the adult and the child, my one year old was very happy in it and her legs were well supported. The hood/neck support works well as a neck support when the child is a sleep, it stops their head bobbing around.

How did this product make your life easier?

My daughter likes to walk but often not too far, it means I don't need to take the pushchair everywhere anymore. We went to a zoo and because she was up at our eye level she could see the animals clearly and not just people's legs. It makes walking the dog easier as I'm not trying to push a pram and hold 2 leads.

Would you choose this product to win?

It was easy to use although the instructional video was much more comprehensive than the booklet that came with it. The carrier is very light and the carry bag is handy. The best thing is that I can have 2 hands to cook with or do the supermarket shop with ease, I will definitely be purchasing one as I have found it useful.

What changes would you make to this product?

The only small issue I have is that the neck support is difficult to clip into place, when the child is in the carrier you have to do it one handed and this is almost impossible to do. It also doesn't make a good sunshade for a bigger child as its not big enough and pushes down on the child's head. My daughter happily wears a hat so this isn't a huge problem for me but could be for someone else.

Tested by mum Becky Hudson for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

The Caboo DXgo is great for popping in your bag when going out. It folds up so small and is so easy and quick to use it’s perfect. It's much more comfortable than a lot of structured carriers as it's quite similar to a stretchy but being buckled and structured it is much more supportive than a stretchy, especially for a nosy baby.

How did this product make your life easier?

The size of the Caboo DXgo when folded makes it so easy to just have in my bag whenever I go out. If my toddler gets tired she can go in the buggy and I can put baby in the carrier. Also if I'm just popping out I can put baby in there instead of getting the buggy out. My little girl loves being carried.

Would you choose this product to win?

I love this product. I have always used a stretchy wrap for my little girl but recently I have been borrowing different style carriers from friends to see which is better for a more active baby. The Caboo DXgo seems to have all the benefits of the stretchy wrap (it feels snug and secure without being tight and you still have the control of the tightness with the straps) but with the ease of a structured carrier.

What changes would you make to this product?

If I could change one thing about the Caboo DXgo it would be the hood. It is quite big, which is great, but it doesn't seem to fit properly in the hood storage pocket without having to fold it and squash it in. Also when it is not in use, but not in the pocket, there is no way to hold on down so it just flaps about. It feels like it could do with a popper or clips or something to hold it down when not being used.
