What we say:
This robust plastic ride-on ship holds lots of appeal for pirate-themed playtime. It’s easy to manoeuvre and climb on and off, with plenty of extras to keep little hands occupied. Pirate figures are included and it plays fun noises – which didn’t drive our grown-ups crazy! Our testers loved the storage hatch below deck.

This doesn’t come with batteries and it’s a little awkward to assemble – there are lots of stickers to apply. It’s not particularly sturdy and tips over quite easily. Having said all that, it does offer lots of opportunities for imaginative play. It can only really be used as a ride-on, though, not as a walker, so it’s not as good value for money as some of the others.

This was popular even before we took it out of the box! It’s very easy to click the pieces together, so it’s great for toddlers who insist on ‘helping’ with assembly. The under-seat storage compartment is brilliant for hiding toys or other treasures. We love the pirate figures and cannon – they inspired lots of fun role-play between Alex and his dad.

Fiddly to put together – that’s tedious if children are waiting to play, so assemble it before Christmas Day. It’s well made, with swivel wheels. Joseph fits it comfortably and rides around proclaiming, ‘Arrr!’ The sounds are great and spark his imagination. The storage with a lid that opens and shuts makes for one very happy toddler!
