Testing the Water Babies Splash Mirror
It's no wonder this product made it onto the podium and received silver, as our parent testers said it was a hit with their children. "This product was very simple to use, but an effective and enjoyable toy in the bath," said mum tester Zoe. "My child is at the stage where he enjoys looking at himself in the mirror, so this was a good distraction in the bath as he isn’t too keen on them. It’s easy to clean and has a separate part that also floats so is fun to also play with that in the bath."
Mum tester Hattie said the product was also effective for using to complete activities practiced at swimming lessons: "My babies loved this product. We use a splash mirror just like this at their swimming lessons, so they loved being able to do some of the activities they do at lessons at home. The product is lovely and light, it comes with a little cover to go over the mirror and stays in place. Because its so light, it is perfect for little hands to hold as well as bit hands." However, Hannah said she didn't use the toy in the bath or pool and that her baby still loved it. "While this product is designed as a bath/water toy, we have found it has been most useful in the kitchen! Our son loves to grin at himself and chew the nice thick foam edges while he is sat in his high chair waiting for us to get his food ready. Being foam also means that when he throws it on the floor it doesn't get damaged, and doesn't make a loud noise. We also use these mirrors in his swimming lessons, and he loves watching himself in the water in them when they are part of the swimming lesson."
In comparison to other bath toys and swim mirrors, our mum's found the Splash Mirror better than other one's on the market. "I've only ever used one other brand of swim mirror, that one was a lot more bulky and made out of plastic rather than foam," said Hattie, "so it didn't stick to the side of the bath and it was harder to hold and heavier". Mum tester Kay agreed: "This is far better than others on the market. The material is child friendly and parent friendly, it dries really quick whereas others seem to soak the water into the material."
Final thoughts
The Splash Mirror was extremely popular with our parent tester's kids and if you're looking for a slightly different bath toy, this could be a great contender. The foam material is ideal for bath times and safe for youngsters to chew on and mirrors are always fascinating with babies. Many of our mums found it made bathtime a lot easier for them too. When questioned if there was anything they'd change about the product, the only thing they could really come up with was the price, however this was simply because they didn't see the toy as a necessity and more of a treat. Overall, it looks like your baby will have a splashing time with this product.
