I’m a first-time mum and became incredibly overwhelmed with the influx of rockers and baby bouncers on the market. They all range so much in price and I was really struggling when it came to which one I wanted to get. I’ve now tried out icklebubba’s Stella Rocker, which worked really well for exactly what I wanted.

Testing Ickle Bubba Stella Rocker

The grey rocker goes perfectly in my living room, which is where I’m hoping to keep it most of the time, but it’s also so light weight to move around. I’ll be able to easily take it over to someone else’s home if I’m visiting with baby, which I think can be so much easier and take a lot of the stress away.

I know I’ll get a good amount of use out of it with the rocker lasting until baby is 9kg, but an actual time frame will be very much dependent on how quickly my little one grows! But with how easy this is to move around the house, I’ll get more than my money’s worth out of it! In total, it’s 2.5kg to lift, so lighter than my baby and so sturdy. Being able to whip off the top from the rocker makes it so simple to move if I needed to separate the two, but honestly, if I’m just going around the house it’s even easier to just pick up the whole thing.

The rocker has a mesh insert to improve breathability and keep baby cool and comfy – and it’s so soft to touch. Comfort is absolutely key here. One thing I really love too is that it doesn’t have a pouch to slide baby into, it has straps and with their wriggly little legs, that makes things a lot easier for me.

There are a lot of options on the market for rockers and they all range substantially in price. This one comes in at £99 which is upper-mid range for a non-electric bouncer, but between the weight, comfort and ease of movement, I’m pretty happy with the price. It’s also easily washable, the seat liner can go in the washing machine and the seat fabric and frame can be wiped down with warm water and mild detergent; so, I can store it for my next baby or a hand-me-down to a friend with complete confidence that it’s as good as new.

In fact, that’s tried and tested! My lovely dog decided to give it a sniff while he had wet food on his nose still, luckily it’s looking (and smelling) good as new.

Now, this was one delivery I was really excited about. So I was thrilled to get it up in absolute record time. At 9 months pregnant, I had a personal record of getting it from my door, carrying the box upstairs, unboxing it and building it all within a whopping 12 minutes. So was it easy to put together? Absolutely, can a pregnant person easily put it together? 100%.

As I was building it I was discovering all of these little perks about it! Firstly, it has a stationary stand which can easily be flipped down if you don’t want the baby to be rocking. Secondly, the bar which holds the toys can be placed wherever you would like it to sit, though the entire bar has to be moved up or down, so it’s not easy to just pull the bar to where the baby is sitting.  Thirdly, it has three reclining positions and they’re so incredibly easy to use! Most importantly, it rocks at such a subtle pace it’s perfect to keep baby entertained but not get them too excited with a fast movement – it's so gentle!
