Testing the Joie Excursion Change and Bounce
When set up, the Travel cot is a large bulky shape however it can be dismantled to much smaller unit and easily folds down making it easy to store. The changing mat has a nice flat design that can easily fit when packed into a car boot and very portable. Also considering the various items included in the travel cot set they are all built to a lightweight design that's easy to carry for the family on the go!
The dream rocker can be adjusted for both the length of baby and to fit their body securely so it's ideal for a growing baby from newborn upwards, although size wise they may be too big for the bouncer from around 6 months upwards. With an adjustable swivel option you can position your baby from flat to upright for their comfort, there's a padded circle to protect the back of head and built in 'entertainment system' which includes hanging squeaky soft toys and a music player with a variety of lullaby and nature sounds.
The changing mat has an easy wipe plastic base though the sides are fabric and non removable so needed a rough scrubbing to remove stains after a particularly messy change! The mat fits nicely on top of the travel cot enabling a nice height for changes that's easier on your back and locks in to the unit to stop it from moving, it's curved edges give an element of security although it's better suited for younger babies and I will probably start using a bigger changing mat when my son outgrows it's compact size. Cot is very spacious and should be suitable for larger babies as well, it has nice deep walls that are inescapable.
Whilst the travel cot took time to put up the first time and needed careful following of the instructions manual it's really foldable again and was no hassle to collapse and re- erect when you get used to the movement needed to assemble the cot. The changing unit and entertainment bouncer clip on securely to the travel cot and although they are fairly high up there is also a safety net underneath as an added precaution, overall they feel very safe to use as an entire unit and the travel cot has string tall sides that are inescapable and will keep your little one secure.
Final verdict
The entire unit is neat, compact and fits neatly together so they are efficient for saving space. The overall design is a simple grey colour with cartoon animals on the entertainment system, the design is simple and modern suitable for girls and boys so perfect for those planning on a growing family.
