This non-ISOFIX forward-facing car seat features an innovative light and sound harness indicator to signal when you’ve reached the correct harness tension for optimum safety.
The KING II LS by Britax is a nice, spacious car seat that is good value for money. It is easy to install and adjust, and the seat can be rear- or forward-facing. A green indicator light lets you know that the straps are fitted to the correct tension and a ‘safety click’ ensures the buckle is safely secured – both useful features.
The seat shell moves to allow the seatbelt to fit and the sides are well-padded for impact protection. Although the seat is very large and quite heavy, it feels safe and sturdy. An extended rear-facing option would be a welcome addition to an already wonderful product.
The five-point safety harness can be tightened with one-pull adjustment.
The seat is fixed in place using your vehicle’s seat belt and is easy to secure, thanks to the fact that you can tip the whole seat forward while you feed the seat belt correctly into place.
Performance chest pads and deep, padded side wings offer added comfort and security. In our view, this is a robust and sturdy option for vehicles without ISOFIX connections.
Tester Nadine-Johanna Stewart, from London, mum to Max (13 months), said: “Very easy to install and adjust. No ISOFIX, so secured via seat belt but feels sturdy and secure. Very heavy, so not ideal to swap between cars.”
Tester Rabab Kane, from Co. Antrim, mum to Patrice, 9, Alesha, 6, Matthew, 5, and Sophia, 2¾, said: “Very heavy. Although the light and sound indicator confirmed secure attachment, Sophia still wriggled her arms free. Great head support. Very easy to install. Lovely fabric.”
Tester Dorian Spackman, from Cornwall, dad to Max (23 months), said: “This seat is well built, solid and easy to use, but I think that the design is pretty dull and old-fashioned. Max found the seat to be hard and not well padded.”
