Cosatto Skippa Fix

At a glance:

A bright seat that will grab your little one’s attention and will last from 4-12. Our mums loved the design, how lightweight and easy the car seat was what to fit and how much their tots seemed to like sitting in it. The only downside our mums could find is the cup holder, which isn’t useable if you have other car seats or passengers in the back.

What they say:

“This first class friend with luxury features hugs your growing toddler with deep side impact protection. With ISOFIT for extra stability and simplicity, Skippa Fix will be a fixture in their lives. Skip to it…”

Would you recommend this to other mums?

The Skippa Fix is light and versatile and fits easily into the Isofix points in my car, as well as my husband’s car that doesn’t have Isofix. It’s wide and easy to fit the seat belt around the child and the cup holder is a really handy feature for long journeys. It can be cleaned easily and there are some lovely bright colours and patterns available to choose from.

How has this product made your life easier?

The product is easy to transport from car to car and the Isofix points can be folded in easily, which makes it easy to transfer to our other car where there is no Isofix points. As the car seat is light, this is a doddle. The aspect that really makes my life easier as a mum is that my son really likes the car seat – he loves the design and has never protested to go in it!

The child friendly print on the seat is a big positive, as it the ease of transferring this between cars. Another plus is the padded head rest as my child seems to sleep OK in the seat, but it does feel like there is a lack of significant padding in the seat. I do think it should contain more to give improved comfort. Given we don’t do long journeys, this isn’t too much of an issue, but if I drove a lot, this might be a reason to look at alternatives.

What changes would you make to this product?

I wold change the quality of the materials used to make the car seat and would add some extra padding to improve comfort. You can easily feel the polystyrene structure to the seat – on short journeys this probably doesn’t’ matter, but I would worry about how comfy my child would be on longer trips.

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend this product to a fellow mum based on its funky and vibrant design, which definitely have the edge on other similar products. I would also recommend this product based on Cosatto’s customer service, which is fab. The seat is easy to install and faff free when it comes to transferring it between vehicles. It is also really easy to store.

How has this product made your life easier?

The Skippa Fix makes my life easier as a mum because it is simple and faff free to install in the car, and was easy to transfer over to other vehicles. Also, the funky design meant my child didn’t object to getting in to the car seat, which is a big plus!

Would you choose this product to win?

I would probably consider this product above all others in this category as I am a big Cosatto fan. The product quality is great, the customer service was brilliant, the warranty is a big bonus and I absolutely love the funky and fun designs which brighten my day.

What changes would you make to this product?

I know this is a forward-facing category, so this point definitely shouldn’t affect its place in the awards, but I would love to see this product as a rearward facing design. Apart from that, I wouldn’t change a thing!

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend this car seat as I felt much better driving my little one knowing the seat was secure and wasn’t going to move anywhere. It is so easy to install in the car and it feels a lot more robust than my current car seat, and my child looks like they have a lot more room to grow into it without looking squashed.

How has this product made your life easier?

The Skippa Fix is easy to use as you can just click it into the car with the Isofix. It is straight forward to use and the head height can easily be adjusted without having to take the car seat out of the car. The seat belt is also nice and secure when you put it through the slots.

Would you choose this product to win?

I would choose this product above others on the market as I know my child is safe and secure when sat in it. As well as being safe, I feel like the Skippa Fix is very easy to use and install into the car.

What changes would you make to this product?

If I could change one thing about the car seat it would be the price tag. Although the seat is really great, I can’t justify the retail price for this stage of car seat. As well as this, I would maybe add more fabric designs, as in my opinion the designs appeal to younger, rather than older children which the seat is made for.

Tested by mum Hayley Weeks for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would definitely recommend this car seat to all my friends, especially those who have older children. It is so comfy and secure for my five-year-old and he still has lots of room to grow into it. I also tested it on my 13-year-old and she still fits, so this makes the seat really great value for money. It is so easy to clip in and out of the car, whilst also being easy for my son to climb into, saving me lifting him in and out of the car. I love that the covers can be washed, which makes the seat really easy to keep clean.

How has this product made your life easier?

This is an amazing product and has made my life so much easier. I have only used a belted car seat in the past – this has been my first Isofix and it has made things so much easier. My mum looks after my son a lot, but this seat is so easy to clip out of my car and into hers, saving me a lot of time and stress.

Would you choose this product to win?

I would choose this product above all others on the market. I have had several different car seats for my four children and this is, by far, the best I have used. It’s super comfy for my son and extremely easy to clip in and out. The bold designs also look great – my son loved our blue car design and didn’t want to go back to his ‘boring’ car seat!

What changes would you make to this product?

The only thing I can think of changing about this seat is the cup holder design as we were unable to use this, as we have a newborn and an older child in the back seat.

Tested by mum Ashley for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend the Skippa Fix car seat as it is nice and chunky and offers lots of side protection without minimising the seat area. My son tells me he is very comfortable in the seat and it appears to offer quite a lot of padding. The design is funky and bright and appeals to my child. The car seat is also extremely easy to install and remove with the Isofix.

How has this product made your life easier?

The Skippa Fix makes my life easier as I know it is secure in the car when fitted with the Isofix. The design also appeals to my son and he likes using it, which is definitely a big plus. The seat belt also feels nice and secure when you feed it through the slots, giving me that extra peace of mind when on the move.

Would you choose this product to win?

I do not think I would choose this product above others on the market. Although it is easy to use and the Isofix is great, I wouldn’t choose it to win as I think the price tag is a little high and I do not think I could justify paying this much for this stage of car seat.

What changes would you make to this product?

If I could change one thing about this it would be to improve the design of the car seat cup holder. I feel it is positioned in the wrong place as on one side, it hit the car door and on the other it hits the person sat in the middle.
