What they say:

“The Cloud Q Plus - developed by doctors, midwives and safety experts - sets new standards for safety, style, comfort and design. Thanks to CYBEX's pioneering research, the Cloud Q Plus is designed with the flattest possible lying angle between head, neck and chest, meaning babies can be transported comfortably and safely even on longer trips. Furthermore, in the event of a collision, the Cloud Q's improved telescopic side-impact protection distributes the force of the impact away from the child.”

The recline feature into a carry cot is really useful with small babies as when you're out and about it provides a secure and snug sleeping environment. The attention to detail in the CYBEX Cloud Q Plus’s design is second to none. The back support for small and premature babies was well though through and the adjustable head height a brilliant feature. From a design perspective this outclasses all of the alternatives.

How did this product make your life easier?

The feature that was particularly useful was the recline carry cot feature as when you are out and about but not in the car your baby can sleep in comfort and without being disturbed. The seat was secure and comfortable and we even used it a few times in the house at nap time when my little boy wouldn't go off to sleep.

As a mum to be there are so many demands on the purse strings for many of us and although the design and the additional features are incredible compared to competitors ultimately I would not be able to justify the cost for the seat. The line has to be drawn somewhere and I felt there were other better value options.

What changes would you make to this product?

The one thing that I would change about this car seat would be the ease of installation. Initially it took some time to install and didn't feel overly secure, the system wasn't as intuitive as some competitors. I don't know if this was down to the model of car it was fitted in or whether we just didn't quite interpret the instructions properly but it didn't seem as secure, perhaps the base would have improved things.

The CYBEX Cloud Q Plus seems like it would grow with my son much more than my current car seat - it is designed to last until the baby is 13kg/18 months whereas the car seat we selected is only designed to last until 12 months so the CYBEX offers greater value for money as you would get more wear out of it. It also has the adjustable headrest which again means it grows with your child so they remain comfortable as they get bigger.

How did this product make your life easier?

I love the recline feature of the CYBEX Cloud Q Plus. My son falls asleep in the car on pretty much every journey we do. I always hate having to lift him out of the car seat at the end of the journey and risk waking him up. With the recline feature on this car seat I would be far more comfortable leaving him in it in the recline position until he wakes up naturally when he is ready.

Overall the CYBEX Cloud Q Plus has a lot of great features including the recline position feature, the height adjustable head rest which allows the car seat to grow with my child and the extra large sun canopy which does seem as though it provides more protection from the sun than my current car seat does.

What changes would you make to this product?

If I had one grumble about this car seat it would be the weight. It felt heavier than my current car seat (which itself is very heavy) and my son is only 11 weeks old. I'm not sure I'd be able to move it with him in it so easily at 18 months old/13kg but I always think the reason car seats are so heavy is to ensure that it is sturdy enough to protect your baby in the event of an accident so it seems like a fair trade off!

I would certainly recommend the CYBEX Cloud Q Plus. I really liked the design and the unique colours that the seat comes in. It is very transportable and felt quite like a luxury product for my new born son to use and carry him in - not only for car journeys but also for him to sit and even sleep in due to the reclining seat and different positions.

How did this product make your life easier?

The product is very transportable. I can see that my son enjoyed being in the seat and perhaps this alone made it slightly easier to transport him in and place him in the seat and carry him to the car. I would be interested to find out its adaptability for our stroller as well.

Would you choose this product to win?

It has many features including the 11 points and I liked the transportability and well as its high safety standard, which was rated higher than other car seats in its category. That for me is a very important factor when coding a car seat for your new born.

What changes would you make to this product?

If possible, I would perhaps change the price of the seat slightly to make it slightly more competitive in the market place. I found the CYBEX Cloud Q Plus to be very good indeed and it definitely felt like a luxury product to use, however I paid considerably less for my car seat and wondered if this product could be made more competitive

The reclining feature on this car seat is excellent and means that when using the car seat with a buggy base as a travel system, you can recline the seat into an almost fully flat bed for your baby to comfortably sleep in. There are also a number of excellent safety features on the seat including linear side-impact protection bars which I found very reassuring. It was also very easy to belt the car seat into my car when not using the isofix base which means you can use the car seat in any car.

How did this product make your life easier?

The reclining feature would make my life a lot easier as a mum because if my little one falls asleep on a car journey, I can simply lift the car seat out of the car, attach it to my buggy base (with adaptors) and then recline the seat so that she is more comfortable. I imagine this would also get around the issue that babies are not supposed to be left in car seats for more than a couple of hours.

Would you choose this product to win?

Whilst the safety features of the seat seem very advanced, and the recline function is a very clever idea, my daughter seemed very unsettled in the car seat. The fabric of the seat made her incredibly sweaty even when it wasn't a particularly warm day. It also seemed as though she did not find the seat particularly comfortable. The seat was also very heavy so it wasn't very easy to carry it when out of the car with my daughter in it. Lastly, I thought it was very expensive.

What changes would you make to this product?

I would have wanted to change a number of things about this car seat but the biggest issue for me was the fabric - my daughter seemed genuinely uncomfortable in it and when I lifted her out of the seat she was often so hot and sweaty her clothes and hair were wet. The weight of the seat was also an issue.

For parents that may travel a lot in the car as you can have it in many different positions and adjust the headrest. Also the lie down feature is very beneficial also and not something another car seat does. Not too heavy compared to other car seats and this is particularly significant for me as I had had a C-section.

How did this product make your life easier?

Lie down feature and different positions may make it more comfortable for the baby especially as many do not like the upright position of some which makes car journeys difficult when you have a crying baby! Really liked the big sun canopy especially in the recent hot weather. This would be very useful particularly if you then put the car seat on to the buggy system to keep the sun off your baby.

Would you choose this product to win?

I tend to stick to more well known brands and although the lie down feature is a positive the most Important factor is safety so this is what I would be looking at the most. Also I am not sure that the expensive cost justifies its features. In terms of being an innovative car seat and it being more of a seat that could be used outside of the car, I think it is great.

What changes would you make to this product?

The recline feature is a bit fiddly to use so if I was in a hurry to go out I could see myself just not using this feature which is a shame as that is the best feature that I can see about this car seat. Also if it was slightly cheaper and more comparable with other car seats it would be more attractive to me.
