The Bloom Changing Backpack

A changing bag is a must for storing all that baby debris when you're a parent and in our opinion, it's better to go for a rucksack style like the Bloom Changing Backpack. Awarded gold for the Best Changing Bag category in our 2023 Mother&Baby Awards, this stylish unisex backpack will hold everything you could want, with nine different compartments, two external zipped compartments and one interior zipped compartment.

Testing the Bloom Changing Backpack

Our parent testers really enjoyed using this changing bag, finding the many individual compartments really helpful. "We were able to take it away on holiday with us, where it was invaluable. The bag has made changing nappies a breeze, as I can keep all the items separate in the bag, reaching for them much quicker," one mum told us.

"The Gigil Bloom backpack is the most practical baby changing bag currently on the market," mum Priya raved. "The bag is larger than most backpacks which allows for ample space to hold essential baby items. The bag has nine impressive compartments for easy access and makes for good organisation."

Incredibly comfortable to wear with adjustable shoulder straps, our testers commented that they loved the premium look and feel of the Bloom Changing Backpack and especially that it was suitable for unisex use. "I did already have a changing bag however that is now stuffed in the back of a cupboard and has been replaced with this beauty which we use daily," another tester admitted.

Although for some parents the price might not be suitable, our testers found that the price was very reasonable due to how much use will be gotten out of it and how high-quality the bag is.

Final thoughts

The usability of the Bloom Backpack received high scores from the parents who tested it with one mum declaring that it was "the perfect mix between fashion and practicality."

Another mum with five little ones wished she'd had the Bloom with her previous children too. "It's so compact yet there is a lot of room for everything we needed we would definitely recommend this backpack-changing bag to any new-time parent."

When asked what they would change, testers wanted to see some sort of padding at the bottom of the bag so that the leather wouldn't fade or wear over time. The included straps that are used to attach the bag to the pushchair would also be much better if adjustable too.

On the whole, our testers found the number of separate compartments very useful but Mum Jodi felt that the Bloom would benefit from just one more pocket internally that would be suitable for paperwork such as baby's health book and letters for appointments.
