Too often as a parent, we purchase products solely for their practicality. Sometimes that means we are stuck slugging an eyesore around, muttering to ourselves, "function over fashion". Too often this is the case when choosing the right changing bag. But when you have had to sacrifice so much of what used to make you trendy and cool, this can be soul-destroying. Cue the Storksak Poppy Quilt Black Backpack. This bag promises both luxury and practicality.

In this review, we will examine all aspects of the bag to decide whether it is functional, fashionable, and most importantly, whether it is worth the price tag.

Overview of the Storksak Poppy Quilt Backpack Changing Bag

Crafted from quilted nylon, this bag is both elegant and durable. The sleek black design means it could easily be mistaken for a standard handbag. However, it is functional with a multitude of pockets.

This bag is easy to clean with a water-resistant outer and a simple wipe-clean lining. The Storksak Poppy Quilt can be worn as both a shoulder bag and a backpack. It can effortlessly be transformed to and from styles with the pull-through nylon strap. With the bag itself, you also receive a changing mat, an insulated food bag, and detachable stroller clips.

How we tested the Storksak Poppy Quilt Backpack Changing Bag

Mother&Baby writer and mother of three, Hannah James, tested this bag for more than six months to get a good and fair assessment of the bag's properties as well as its durability. Here is her honest and fair review.

Testing the Storksak Poppy Quilt Backpack

This bag is everything a mum needs to feel and look glamorous, with all the counterparts of the traditional nappy bag. When travelling, this bag doesn't feel like or look like a frumpy changing bag. I loved wearing it over my shoulder or receiving compliments whilst it was strapped to the pram.

Usually changing bags take a bit of a beating being lugged from destinations at a manic speed, often dragging on the floor as I hurl infants into the car - and then safely strap them in of course. However, this bag has remarkably held its shape, and minus a few scuffs looks just as good as the day it arrived.

Storksak aims to create bags that you will love enough to use as your regular bag, with all the intelligent features to make your job easier as parents. And wholeheartedly, I think they have succeeded. I love this bag and plan to use it long after my children grow out of nappies.

Price

This is the one aspect that I have a slight grumble with. I think the price for a changing bag is at the higher end. I wouldn't spend this much on any handbag. However, I think you pay for what you get. The quality of this bag, plus the look and the feel are both high-end. So, if you are someone who wants a luxurious changing bag, this would be money well spent.

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend this to other mums if they have one child. For me, the bag didn't have enough storage space to carry everything I needed for my three children. It is great for mums who like fashion and want a chic bag.

What changes would you make to the Storksak Poppy Quilt Changing Bag?

The opening of the bag is rather small which means it can be a little difficult to find items - especially if the bag is over-packed. I would like to see a bigger opening. The only thing I would change is to have an insulated part of the bag. Although the food and bottle bag is fantastic, it either has to be clipped onto the side, making the bag a little less comfortable, or put into the bag which takes up valuable space.

Final thoughts

I would give this bag four stars. If you are looking for a gorgeous changing bag that doesn't look like it is stocked full of nappies, look no further. This bag holds its shape and has been designed using high-quality materials. However, if you have multiple young children it isn't practical. I think this would make a fabulous baby shower gift.
