Testing the Stokke Snoozi Bassinet

As a first time dad, I wasn't quite sure what kind of Moses basket to go for. I knew my partner wanted something that would be practical, whilst also fitting in with the style of our home, so that we could use it upstairs when we went to bed, as well as downstairs in the day.

We know Stokke to be a really good brand, and really liked the look of the simple yet effective style of the Stokke Snoozi Bassinet.

Build

This product was really easy to put together. I was concerned it would come in a lot of pieces that might effect the longevity, but it came with a very minimal amount of parts and screws, so it felt a lot more safe. It also made it less of a daunting task of building and making sure everything was really secure!

I really liked that it came with a mattress suitable for a newborn as well. As a new parent, I wasn't sure what type of mattress I needed and there's an overwhelming amount online, so the fact it came with one suitable is a huge bonus.

Usability

We could easily position the bassinet in our home and thanks to its shape it didn't look out of place no matter where it was. We found traditional Moses baskets look really lost in a room unless they're in the corner, but loved that this could easily be moved downstairs between rooms and still looked nice.

It did everything needed, and we're really impressed with the fact it is so simple to use and adjust if needed.

Performance

I feel that there's not much you need a baby's bed to do other than provide a safe and comfortable space for them, it feel safe and sturdy and if needed be easy to move around. I do feel as though the Snoozi Bassinet ticks all of these boxes though.

We don't need to adjust it to a playpen yet, but it was really easy to drop the depth of the bassinet so it was suited to an older baby. We really liked this as it means it will last a lot longer than most Moses baskets.

One thing we did struggle with was moving it between floors in our home. While it can move across the floor easily, when carrying it up and down stairs between bedtime and in the day it was a little difficult on narrower stairs as the legs are long. You could remove the legs but I didn't really want to mess around doing this all the time, so adjustable legs would be a great solution to combat this!

However, this is only a minor inconvenience. One of my favourite features, which really stands out for me, is the waterproof protective layer over the mattress. As first-time parents we've heard all the hacks about putting waterproof layers below the mattress covers or adding multiple layers, but this saves lots of time and is a lot much more efficient for nighttime accidents!

Final verdict

Overall, my partner and I really loved the Stokke Snoozi Bassinet. We loved how modern it felt, and it fit really well in our house style too. It does seem like a pricier option for a bassinet or Moses basket, I think the quality and design really make up for that and make it a worthwhile option to purchase. I would recommend this product to other parents, especially as it will last longer than most other bassinets, thanks to the fact it can be easily converted.
