Mother&Baby has once again partnered with Parkers – the definitive resource for car buying advice in the UK – to bring you the awards for the Best Small Family Car and Best Large Family Car in the prestigious Parkers New Car Awards 2025. The Skoda Kamiq SUV and the all-electric Volkswagen ID.7 Civic take up the spoils in a line-up of 10 winning cars announced by Parkers today (21 October).

The Skoda Kamiq takes the top spot in the Best Small Family Car category because it’s been so intelligently designed. The interior is crammed full of ingenious touches that are ideally suited to family life, including smartphone pockets on the rear of the front seat backs, a built-in rubbish bin for the front door pockets and luggage net on the underside of the parcel shelf. Oh, and did we mention that prices start from just £24,000?

Parkers editor Keith Adams says: “The Skoda Kamiq is quite an old car now. It was introduced in 2019 – and it’s nowhere near as flashy or technology laden as newer rivals such as the BMW X1 or Volvo EX30. But it won our best small family car award thanks to its ruthless value and shamelessly practical cabin.”

The all-electric Volkswagen ID.7 wins out in the Best Large Family Car category for its huge and stylish interior, impressive safety features and excellent driving range on a full charge. It’s the best electric car in the Volkswagen range and a suitably impressive flagship.

Keith Adams adds: “The ID.7 wins its family car stripes because of its spacious hatchback bodystyle – and newly introduced Tourer estate car – are well-suited to family duties. You get a huge boot and generous rear-seat space ticking all the right boxes. Keep your eyes peeled for some truly competitive finance deals, too.”

The winning cars have been tested rigorously by the Parkers.co.uk team, which judged the winning cars on a combination of value, quality, reliability, cost-per-month on finance deals and fitness for purpose.

"In this year's New Car Awards, more than half of the winners – as well as our overall Car of The Year – are electric, which shows a huge shift in the competence and usability of these cars. But we also acknowledge that EVs still won’t work for enough people until we have more street charging, so the awards are peppered by lots of highly commended petrol and hybrid alternatives,” Keith says.

Now in its eighth year, the Parkers New Car Awards 2025 reflects the constantly-evolving views of Britain's car-buying public, with winners decided by a combination of the site's expert reviewers' verdicts in thousands of miles of road testing and the purchasing habits of the website's 2.3 million users actively involved in the buying process.

More details about the Best First Car award can be found alongside all of the winners in the Parkers New Car Awards 2025 on the Parkers website.
