The Dr Brown steriliser and warmer provides fast pre programmed warming and safe sterilising making parents' lives even simpler. Elle, a first time mum was excited to put this product to the test, here’s how she got on.
Pros
- The product is extremely easy to use and has minimal set up, all warming and sterilising settings are pre-programmed with one button start which means it’s quick and easy to get the hang of and use.
- The product is slimline and doesn’t take up a lot of room which makes it perfect for any household, you don’t need to use up much kitchen worktop.
- Whilst the product is slimline it still fits a lot in it, meaning you can sterilise a lot in one go.
- The machine fits most other bottle brands as well as Dr Brown own bottles.
- The water reservoir holds enough water for multiple runs of the machine so there is no need to refill every time.
- When the programme is finished the beeper is handy.
- Travel friendly size and not too heavy.
- Getting the items in and out is easy with the removable basket feature.
- The machine will not overheat due to pre programmed setting so you are confident it is safe if left running unattended.
- The machine can warm liquids and puréed foods which will come in handy as your baby grows up.
- Auto power off after 8 minutes.
- Backlot display for night time use.
- The machine stores the last programme ran which is useful if repeating the programme e.g a regular sterilise.
Cons
- The water reservoir has to click in a certain way and you have to do this fairly quickly otherwise the water will spill out. Whilst this is easy once you’ve tried a couple of times it was frustrating the first few times. It is a flaw of the design as the water reservoir needs to be upside down.
- If you’re wanting to sterilise or warm multiple bottles in one go this machine will take longer as it only fits one bottle at a time. If you are formula feeding you may want a larger machine to do lots of bottles in one go.

Testing the Dr Browns Steriliser and Warmer
We’ve been using the steriliser feature of the product the most as our newborn is breastfeeding. We use the sterilising feature to keep his dummies and cases clean and we’ve sterilised the breast milk collector too. This machine makes it so easy and it helps us remember what’s clean and what isn’t, we leave our clean items inside with the lid closed. This helps more so than if we were to sterilise in a microwave and leave items on the side where you possibly forget what’s been in and what hasn’t.
The warming programs work just as well, and there are several options on the pre-programmed settings covering things like glass or plastic bottles, the starting temperature of the item that requires warming, e.g., room temperature, refrigerated or frozen, and the volume of liquid. The machine can also warm puréed food, we haven’t needed to use the warming feature as much as the steriliser just based on the age of our baby and how they’re being fed but it’s something we know will work well in the future.
The machine took no time to setup and was incredibly simple to get started with, the instructions were clear and explained the programmes in a simple way.
The machine includes three removable parts, the water reservoir, the removable basket and the reversible riser. The parts slot in very easily and the basket can be adjusted to accommodate bottles of different sizes.
The LCD display is also easy to navigate and the settings link to a handy table in the instructions booklet so you can get to know the setting easily when the machine is new. Once you know the settings, navigating through and selecting is fast and you can set the machine off in a matter of seconds.
The objective of this machine is to warm and sterilise, both of which it is effective at doing. You have confidence the pre programmed settings achieve the right temperature for warming and meet the safety objectives for sterilisation.
Final verdict
Overall we love using this machine, it makes our lives with a newborn much easier and we are confident the items from the machine are clean and safe for our baby. Compared to other products it’s compact and slimline and doesn’t take up a lot of space.
If there were one improvement I would suggest it would be the design of the water reservoir, as mentioned earlier if you don’t click it in correctly it can be prone to spilling. A water reservoir you don’t need to flip upside down would be preferred.
I would recommend this product and believe it’s good value for money.
FAQs
Can you use Dr Brown's bottle warmer with other bottles?
The Dr. Brown's Deluxe Bottle Warmer comes with an adjustable basket, so it fits all Dr. Brown's bottles as well as most other bottle brands. The bottom section of the basket can be turned upside down so smaller bottles sit higher in the chamber and for easier removal.
