How did this product make your life easier?

Hannah: This product is very convenient as it has multiple functions. When at home the electric steriliser function is handy, however as it turns into a microwave steriliser it becomes a good product to take away on staycations, rather than buying microwaveable pouches. The other functions of the product (bottle warmer and defrost setting) means it grows with the baby as when you stop needing to sterilise bottles you can continue to use the product, making it more convenient for the mother.

Jenny: The MAM Electric Steam Steriliser & Express Bottle Warmer is great as it offers 6 functions in one handy product. I do not currently have a microwave, so this product is perfect for me. It allows me to warm bottles, heat food and sterilise various items, whilst taking up less side space than a microwave. I am a fan of the steam steriliser as I do not need to worry about germs on my babies teething toys or bottles and it's a natural method to sterilise items. The control panel is easy to use and it beeps when it is finished, the beeps are a good volume and I could hear when it was finished from the living room, though my living room is quite close to the kitchen. The electric steam steriliser is quite noisy so if you don’t hear the beep I am sure you will notice how quiet it is once it is finished. The bottles are quite hot when finished but you are provided with some tongs to help handle the items until they have cooled down, though I left them in the steriliser until they were cool. My baby is using the 9oz bottles now, not the smaller newborn bottles and I managed to sterilise 3 bottles and I was also able to fit in some teethers. The best feature for me is the ability to defrost baby food as I often forget to get my baby’s food out of the freezer! I feel like I am going to get a lot of use out of this for a long period of time thanks to this feature.

Katie: Really easy to assemble and use. Able to use at home or travelling as a microwave steriliser which was great and really convenient as it is super compact so hardly takes up any room. The bottles then stay sterilised for up 48hrs. I found it really useful that it only took 3-5mins which is a lot quicker than cold water sterilisers.

Would you recommend this to other parents?

Jenny: Whilst the MAM Electric Steam Steriliser & Express Bottle warmer is on the expensive side, and you may be put off by the initial outlay, I believe it is really good value for money and would thoroughly recommend the product, as it can be used as a steriliser, with the added benefits of being a food and bottle warmer. All these abilities packed into the same steriliser means there is no need to purchase a separate bottle and food warmer, which would have only added more clutter to my kitchen worktop. The MAM Electric Steam Steriliser & Express Bottle Warmer has a stylish, minimalistic design and looks at home in my kitchen. Although I cannot use the microwave sterilising option, as I do not own a microwave, I am confident this could also be useful to many mums. However, I imagine this feature is more of an either-or scenario, you wouldn’t use the microwave option and the electric steam option together. Whilst the product initially looks a little complicated, once I read the instructions, I found it easy to use with only a couple of buttons and lights to highlight each program. Not only is the interface easy to understand (once you know what to look for), but it is also easy and practical to keep clean. However due to its variety of functions you do need space to store each part when not using them.

Claire: Although my son is older and we are using it from now, this would have been a real time saver from when he was born. Also, the fact it comes with a few different products in one with the bottle and the dummy too. When you first have your baby you don’t know what you’re going to need. This gives you options!

Doran: I would definitely recommend this product because it has helped me out a lot as I use it daily and it’s an amazing product it’s worth every penny. It’s so fast to use and quickly warms up the milk as sometimes you need it quickly. The design of the steriliser is perfect and easy to clean also it’s very hygienic as it makes the bottles stay disinfected for longer period of time.

Would you choose this product above all others on the market?

Vanessa: I think this product should win because it is designed with the busy mum in mind and also with the thought of making mums lives easier. It can be hectic knowing what you should and shouldn't buy, what you should or shouldn't use but the MAM electric steriliser and bottle warmer helps make life a little simpler. Its easy to use too! My only gripe about it is I have found limescale does build up on it quite easily.

Courtney: It saves me a lot of time. I find that the electric sterilisation appears to be much quicker than other sterilisers that I’ve tried. It’s not noisy either which is a bonus. The microwave steriliser is a life saver as I’m able to take that out with me. I like that you can use it for cold water sterilisation too. The bottle warmer is also again a life saver, much quicker than others I’ve tried and just general hot water. I breastfeed and it heats my milk up just nicely.

Rachel: Yes as an electric steriliser this product is ideal. I like the fact that it is a multi-purpose item. It can be used as both a steriliser for when baby is under 6 months old and a bottle warmer and then can be used as a food warmer for weaning. The design could be improved to make it more modern and sleek to fit in to all house designs but the current materials do make for easy cleaning. You can use any type of bottles in the steriliser not only MAM which is ideal. The free bottle with the steriliser is a good way of getting to try out different bottles to allow baby to choose without having to buy multiple. It does state that it is an electric and microwave steriliser however it is too large to fit in my microwave so I couldn’t get testing this part of it. My microwave is a standard size and most people will have purchased a microwave before a steriliser so it might be best not to advertise this as an option without clearly advertising that a large microwave would be necessary.

What changes would you make to this product?

Hannah: The only thing I think that could be improved is providing a container to use to freeze either milk or first stage food so that the defrosting setting is consistent as in the instructions it is only a ‘guide’ based on the container used. I think the rest of the product is fine and easy to use so no other changes would be needed.

Jenny: There doesn’t appear to be a maximum line for the water to be filled to, which would make using the steriliser a bit easier to use. I find myself having to measure out the recommended 200ml in a measuring jug to get the correct amount of water. This is only a minor detail, but I feel would make a big improvement to the useability of this product and would save some time. I also feel the overall shape of the MAM Electric Steam Steriliser & Express Bottle warmer could be improved. At the moment, it is wide and short so takes up quite a lot of space on the kitchen counter, and the steriliser compartment is also quite large to store while using the machine as a bottle and food warmer. I understand the steamer attachment needs to be this shape to fit within a microwave, however I think it is unlikely anyone would use the product as both an electric steam steriliser and microwave steriliser.

Katie: The metal heating plate on the steraliser is showing signs of rust and limescale already even after a few weeks of use. I have had to buy and use a cleaner several times to try and keep it clean. Also the products let off a lot of steam and can make the kitchen quite wet, I feel the bottle warmer needs a cover over it. Would be good if like other products on the market that is dried also.
