As a mum of a spirited 17-month-old, I’m no stranger to the chaos of mealtime. Between food flying everywhere and the constant battle to keep my little one in place, I’ve learned that having the right high chair can make a world of difference. When you’re dealing with a fussy eater, the last thing you need is a hard-to-clean high chair adding to the stress. That’s why I was eager to try out the KAOS Klapp foldable high chair, and I have to say, it has made mealtimes much more manageable.

After two months of testing, here’s my honest review of the KAOS Klapp foldable high chair.

KAOS Klapp foldable high chair: What’s in the box?

When you get your KAOS Klapp foldable high chair, you’ll find it ready to use straight out of the box—no assembly required! This is a massive relief because, let’s be honest, as busy parents, the last thing we want is to spend hours putting together yet another piece of baby gear. However, to really make the most of this chair, you’ll need to purchase a couple of add-ons: the Klapp Plastic Safety Rail and the Klapp Tray. These accessories are essential for turning the chair into a functional mealtime seat for your little one, and they will see you through until your child is about three years old. The extra cost might be a bit of a downside, but I found them to be well worth the investment.

Pros

Ready assembled

You literally just unfold it and click the seat into place. No assembly hassle! This is especially great if you’re not handy with tools or simply don’t have the time or energy to put something together.

Simple to fold

The folding mechanism is super smooth, and it’s easy to store or move around. This is a game-changer for those of us who have limited space in the kitchen or dining area. When it’s not in use, you can easily fold it up and tuck it away without any fuss. It only weighs 5 kg so it's very light to carry and move around.

Easy to clean

The materials wipe down easily, and the tray is dishwasher-safe. Huge win for messy mealtimes! If your toddler is anything like mine, you know how important this is. No more scrubbing at stains or dealing with hard-to-clean crevices.

Stylish design

This might be the winning factor for me. The Scandinavian design is gorgeous and fits beautifully into any home. It’s refreshing to have a high chair that doesn’t scream “baby gear” and instead looks like a piece of furniture you’d actually want in your home.

Sustainable materials

Made from premium oak, it’s durable and eco-friendly. The chair is designed to be a long-term investment, not just a short-term solution. Plus, knowing it’s made from sustainable materials gives me peace of mind.

Cons

Add-ons required

You need to purchase the Klapp Plastic Safety Rail and Tray separately. They’re great investments, but it would be nice if some essentials were included. The total cost can add up, and while the quality is undeniable, it would be great if these were part of the standard package.

No safety harness included

While the safety rail helps, my little one can still wriggle free. A harness would have been a welcome addition. Supervision is necessary at all times, which can be a bit inconvenient during those moments when you need to step away briefly.

Testing the KAOS Klapp foldable high chair

Comfort

My son loves his KAOS Klapp foldable high chair. The seat is snug (thanks to the optional safety rail), and he’s much happier sitting in this compared to his old Hauck Alpha Family high chair. The design seems to make him feel more involved at the table, and that’s made mealtimes much easier. The chair’s ergonomic design also means that it’s comfortable for him to sit in for longer periods, whether we’re eating or he’s just hanging out while I cook.

Ease of assembly

This chair gets full marks here—it comes fully assembled. Just unfold it, and you’re good to go. My husband was thrilled that he didn’t have to put anything together, which is always a bonus! The ease of setup is a huge plus for busy parents who have enough on their plates without adding complicated assembly instructions to the mix.

Ease of use

The KAOS Klapp foldable high chair is a breeze to use. It folds and unfolds easily, and although the tray could use another adjustment option, it’s simple enough to manage. The folding mechanism is intuitive, which means you’re not struggling to figure it out each time you use it. It’s also lightweight, making it easy to move from room to room if needed.

Ease of cleaning

Cleaning this chair is a dream. Everything wipes down easily, and the tray can go in the dishwasher. Compared to our old high chair, which was a nightmare to clean, this is a major upgrade. The wipeable seat and smooth surfaces mean that food doesn’t get stuck in hard-to-reach places, and the whole process is quick and painless.

Stability

The chair is generally stable, but you could get the KAOS Anti Tilting Slippers. Just slide onto the hind legs to help prevent tilting. But for us, it works well without it. There’s been no tipping or wobbling, even with my son’s constant squirming. However, if your child is particularly active, you might want to invest in the additional stability options to ensure extra safety.

Durability

This high chair is solid. It’s designed to last for years and can support your child from babyhood through to age 8. The materials are sturdy and sustainable, so I’m confident it will hold up. The oak wood is not only beautiful but also incredibly durable, resisting the wear and tear of daily use.

How did this product make your life easier?

The KAOS Klapp high chair has genuinely reduced the stress of mealtime. It’s easy to clean, stable, and looks great in our home. The fact that it’s ready to use out of the box and folds up so neatly makes it a lifesaver for busy mums like me. And honestly, I love how it looks—its Scandinavian design fits perfectly with our home decor. It also frees up space in the kitchen when not in use, thanks to its compact fold.

Another way it’s made my life easier is by being so versatile. Whether we’re using it at the table for meals or bringing it into the living room for snack time, it’s easy to move around and adjust to different settings. The fact that it’s lightweight means I can carry it from room to room without any trouble.

What changes would you make to this product?

I really wish the high chair came with a basic safety harness included. The add-ons are great, but it would be even better if some essentials were part of the base package. It’s a bit pricey once you add everything up, but the quality and design make it worth it. I’d also appreciate an extra tray adjustment option to better fit smaller toddlers.

Another thing I’d change is the inclusion of the tray and safety rail in the basic package. While I understand that KAOS wants to offer customisable options, these feel like essentials that should be included. It’s a minor inconvenience, but one that could be easily fixed.

Final verdict

If you’re on the lookout for a high chair that’s practical, easy to use, and durable, the KAOS Klapp foldable high chair is definitely worth considering. Yes, it’s an investment (especially once you add the extras), but it’s one that can last through multiple stages of your child’s development. The chair’s sleek design, ease of use, and sustainability make it stand out in a crowded market.

At £279 (plus the cost of the add-ons), it’s not the cheapest option, but considering it’s built to last until your child is 8 years old, I think it’s a good value for the money. The durability and aesthetic appeal of this chair mean that it doesn’t just serve a function; it’s also a stylish addition to your home.

All in all, the KAOS Klapp highchair has made mealtimes more manageable and less stressful, which is exactly what we all need! If you’re willing to invest in a high-quality, stylish, and long-lasting high chair, the KAOS Klapp highchair is a fantastic choice.
