At a glance:

The UK's No.1 selling scar and stretch mark product helps improve uneven skin tone and the appearance of new and old scars. Bio-Oil also prevents the formation of stretch marks during pregnancy and improves the appearance of existing stretch marks. It aims to smooth and tone ageing, sagging and wrinkled skin on both face and body. Bio-Oil combines some of the most important skincare ingredients, including Vitamin A and E, Calendula, Lavender, Rosemary and Chamomile oils, plus the unique breakthrough ingredient PurCellin Oil to ensure they are easily absorbed deep into the skin where they can provide targeted treatment.

Would you recommend this to other mums?

Emily: I would recommend Bio-Oil if I had a friend who was concerned about stretch marks or changes in their skin during pregnancy and afterwards. I can already see the benefits and my skin feels smoother and my stretch marks are less 'angry' looking. It is easy to remember to apply it regularly.

Rebecca: I would definitely recommend this to new or expectant mums who are worried about stretch marks. It's compact enough to fit inside a handbag or changing bag and you could take it on holiday. There is no horrible smell which some creams that claim to reduce stretchmarks have. Confidence can be a big thing for new mum's but this has definitely helped me feel more confident about my skin and my stretch marks.

Laura: This product can be used all over the body for several different things. I was very impressed with its multi-functioning uses. I am 28 weeks pregnant and have had no stretch marks so far. I found it helped the dry skin on my legs and improved my skin tone. The oil is light, feels nice on my skin and drys quickly. It is good value for money.

How did this product make your life easier?

Rose: This product doesn't exactly make my life easier. I have used it as part of my pre and post-baby skincare regime and it has helped me. It is simple to use. I appreciate that it is an oil but it took some time to clean my hands afterwards. I do not feel comfortable holding my baby having applied it, due to having oily and slippery hands.

Fiona: Bio-Oil is quick and easy to use. The area of application doesn’t require any special preparation before I can use this product. If I don’t have much time or I am tired in the evenings I like that I can use this oil on my body and my face. There is no way of applying the oil without using your fingers to rub it in. This can leave your hands a bit greasy. If you want to avoid this, I have found using a tanning mitt very effective.

Melissa: I feel relaxed and confident knowing I’m doing something to help prevent stretch marks. Hopefully, this product works and I will be confident to show my body after childbirth especially on the beach seeing as I’m due in the summer! My partner can bond with the baby as he can massage the oil into my skin.

Would you choose this product to win?

Eleanor: Yes I would definitely choose this product over the others on the market. It has made my stretch marks duller where before they were dark. The rest of my body that hasn’t suffered from stretch marks is soft and smooth, especially my arms. I have been told that they look really good.

Emily: Bio-OIl already has a good reputation but I particularly like that is an animal-friendly product. This should be promoted more readily. It is a natural product and fairly unique to the market. They could improve on the smell to make it even more appealing to the buyer or even add a range of scents to choose from.

Rebecca: I would definitely only buy Bio Oil from now on. Some other oils that help with stretch marks leave a very oily residue on the skin. Bio-Oil leaves my skin feeling soft and moisturised and I can get dressed straight after application. A spray might be a good idea for quicker application.

What changes would you make to this product?

Laura: I was surprised that there are no instructions on the packaging explaining how to use the product. I did not know how much oil should be applied. As there are different uses for this product I would have thought it would explain how much to use on a scar. A breakdown of each use and instructions might be helpful.

Rose: I think it is expensive for a small bottle. It does last for a long time but the size and price would put me off. I would be interested in other applicator formats, such as a spray. I did find my hands would become oily and slippery after application which is not ideal with a new baby.

Fiona: This product does leave my skin quite slippery and greasy. This greasiness is fine on my tummy or small areas of my face. However, I only use it on large areas of my face at night. I have to wash my hands after using it or use a mitt when applying it. I understand that it may not be as beneficial to my skin if it was made less greasy.
