At a glance:

Not only are these Aldi nappies ludicrously cheap, but the absorbency is excellent and there were no leaks reported. The material felt thick and strong, and the fit is flexible so that babies never feel hemmed in or restricted in their movements. They do come up a little bigger than other nappies on the market, but overall, they are of a fantastic quality and have an unbeatable price.

What they say:

“Our Mamia Ultra Dry Size 4 Maxi nappies offer great quality and incredible value for money. Mamia Nappies have a contoured design, are dermatologically tested, hypoallergenic and provide comfort night and day for up to 12 hours.”

Tested by mum Katie Roast for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

We would definitely recommend Mamia nappies to our friends and family – the nappies are affordable as well as comfortable for baby. I find them very easy to use as the sticky tabs enclose all the mess inside the nappy, which is useful when you have a very wriggly baby. They are very absorbent so there have been minimal leaks! They feel soft to touch and I would assume they are comfortable for baby to wear. It's very clear which is the front and which is the back too, so there's no worry about putting it on the wrong way round in the middle of the night.

How did this product make your life easier?

The Mamia nappy brand does everything you need it to do and more. When having a young baby, you go through lots of nappies, so the last thing you need to be worrying about is how much they cost. Aldi Mamia nappies are so much cheaper than most of the others you can buy from other supermarkets. But not only are they cheap, they are good quality, fit baby well and we have had virtually no leaks. They are just as good as the expensive brands, if not better and that is brilliant!

Would you choose this product to win?

We would always choose the Mamia nappies above others on the market, even though we don't regularly shop at Aldi supermarkets. The main reason for us making a special trip to Aldi for the Mamia nappies is because they are so much cheaper than other brands. I absolutely think that they should win a Mother & Baby award!

What changes would you make to this product?

We wouldn't change anything about these nappies – we love them!

Tested by mum Sasha Bell for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would certainly recommend the Aldi Mamia nappies to my friends and fellow mums as they are so affordable and excellent quality. They are designed well and have exceeded my expectations of a good quality nappy. They are easy to use and very absorbent for those longer periods of time during the night and my little one never seemed uncomfortable.

How did this product make your life easier?

I was very surprised that the Aldi nappies met all my expectations! The only small downside was that I did find them a lot thicker, meaning they took up more room in the changing bag. They were very absorbent and lasted all through the night with no leaking, which saved me changing bedding and lots of laundry. My little one seemed very comfortable and happy in the Aldi Mamia nappies as they stayed secure, even when they were wriggling and moving around. They are excellent value for money and I will be buying them again.

Would you choose this product to win?

The Aldi Mamia nappies will now be my go to brand as they are affordable and have never failed to perform. They did not irritate the skin and there was no redness, like I have found with other brands on the market. These are the only nappies that have never leaked. The only slight problem was the sizing, as the size three nappies were slightly larger than other brands I’ve tried for my little one and didn’t fit as well.

What changes would you make to this product?

I was very happy with the Mamia nappies and struggle to think of anything I would change.

Tested by mum Megan Hicks  for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would definitely recommend this product to a friend or fellow mum. For me, the Mamia range offers quality that gives you peace of mind. I know that these nappies will protect my baby from feeling damp for up to 12 hours, so I am not constantly checking to see if we might have a leak. My baby suffers with sensitive skin and eczema but we have not had any issues with these nappies.

How did this product make your life easier?

This product absolutely makes my life easier as a mum. Not only does it save my family money, it takes the guess work out of purchasing nappies. I used to try and find nappies on sale in large shops like Tesco or Asda, but ended up wasting time and money, and buying inferior products. With Mamia nappies, I know that I’m getting great quality at a great price. I can shop for my food and ALL baby products at Aldi – that to me makes my life so much easier!

Would you choose this product to win?

I believe that Mamia nappies should absolutely win as the best value disposable nappy. Quality and price are both fantastic. They never leak, the tabs keep the nappy closed once you’ve finished with it and they come up quite high on baby’s bum, which prevents leakage up the back.

What changes would you make to this product?

I would like the Mamia range to specify that the nappies work just as well overnight, because at the moment I still buy Pampers for the night. I would use Mamia for night time use if it mentioned ‘overnight’ in the advertising. Also, perhaps each size could be a different colour so that babies had something new to look forward to as they grew.

Tested by mum Kirsty Beacock for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I loved that the size of this nappy was much more generous than other number fours I’ve used, this allowed flexibility and comfort. The elasticated back also provides extra security especially when you have growing, wriggly babies who are on the move. The sticky tapes are good quality that allow for a few attempts to position it correctly, without affecting the staying power. I tested out the 12hr dry claim and it worked! I have already championed this product to a friend who is having challenges with her current brand.

How did this product make your life easier?

My little boy had previously leaked through a number of different brands, but not at all with these nappies! This makes mummy's life a lot easier and babies much happier. I loved the fit, there were no red marks around his legs in the morning and generous flexible fitting around the back to ensure protection and comfort. I did go back to my old brand when I finished the test packet, but very quickly realised how superior the Mamia brand is!

Would you choose this product to win?

I like the comfort and protection these nappies gave my little boy. Each nappy provided me with the assurance of leak-free nights and a better sleep for baby. The price is also very competitive, compared to other supermarket brands, and much cheaper than Pampers. I hope this product wins because it exceeds all expectations in comfort, protection and price.

What changes would you make to this product?

Overall, I was extremely pleased with the product. The only thing I can think of is that if Mamia made the nappies in a pull-up style as well, that would be really convenient for growing babies!

Tested by mum Gayle Blockley for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would 150% percent recommend these nappies to any mother without a second thought – they are pure gold. They honestly surpass the higher priced, more commonly known brands in every way. I love how flat packed they come, the little cartoon images on the Velcro and the way the sticky tab encloses all the mess inside efficiently. My daughter is almost four-months-old and not once have we had an issue regarding nappy rash.

How did this product make your life easier?

Mamia nappies are extremely easy to use. They are so absorbent, meaning you don’t need to change baby overnight, which is a massive bonus to a sleep starved mama. Having a baby is very expensive in this day and age and it’s amazing to finally find something of quality that is priced to suit everyone’s pockets. Also love the wetness indicator, great feature.

Would you choose this product to win?

These nappies are the definition of value for money. As a new mother and a new resident in the UK, one easily gets caught up in the lifestyle of expensive prams, car seats, and cots – it’s so hard to know what to believe, so to come across an item that will not break the bank and is excellent quality is rare. These nappies are worth their weight in gold.

What changes would you make to this product?

The sizing is a little off, I would say these nappies were a bit too big for my little one, but that is a minor issue.

Tested by mum Natalie Betts for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

These are really good value for money but the quality matches that of Pampers - in fact I prefer Aldi nappies as they don't have that horrible nappy smell. They fit my little boy really well and we haven't had any leaks. I compared these with Pampers and Aldi nappies are the same thickness if not thicker. My little boy hasn't suffered with nappy rash wearing these nappies.

How did this product make your life easier?

I don't have to worry about any leaks or messes with these nappies and my little boy even wears them overnight without any leaks. They fit my baby really well, the line that goes blue when the nappy is wet is a brilliant feature as I only have to peak at it to know when he needs changing instead of pulling the napoy to the side.

Would you choose this product to win?

As I’m on maternity leave we're always looking for ways to save money so these nappies are great. I would definitely choose mamia nappies over other leading brands as the value for money is incredible. Although they are a fraction of the price of other brands the quality is amazing, so far there haven't been any leaks when my little boy has been wearing these nappies.

What changes would you make to this product?

The only thing I would change about this product is to make the size 1 nappies available in bigger pack sizes as it’s a bit of a nuisance having to buy several packs instead of one big pack. Because I go through so many nappies it's easier to buy one big pack instead of several smaller packs of nappies.

Tested by mum Nancy Cullinane for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would most definitely recommend the Mamia nappy to my mummy friends because first and foremost it offers super absorbency, my son can wear his nappy for over 12 hours at night and we've not had any leaks. The fit is really comfortable on my 6 month old, not leaving any marks and not irritating his sensitive skin.

How did this product make your life easier?

The Mamia nappy range makes my life so much easier as a mum because I can have piece of mind that my children are wearing a nappy that contains all of their business. It also means I'm not being woken in the night by an upset little one whose nappy has leaked and therefore reducing my washing load which is a life saver.

Would you choose this product to win?

The price is so accessible for parents compared to other brands on the market and they offer the best absorbency and comfort for both our boys.

What changes would you make to this product?

The only thing I would change about the Mamia nappy range is that the bigger sizes maybe have different patterns on them, the size 3 and size 5+ both have the same print and when I'm trying to quickly grab a nappy from my bag it can be hard to differentiate between the two. This by no means has any effect on the function in the nappy just a personal niggle that would help a busy mum.

Tested by mum Emma Walker for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

What an amazing product. The nappies where as good if not better than the leading brand. They absorb better than Pampers, Morrisons and Asda’s own and never ever leak. My little boy does large wees and these nappies had no problems in keeping the wee inside. Excellent value for money. Comfy and a really good fit. I have tried every nappy on the market on children in the nursery where I work and have always found these to be great.

How did this product make your life easier?

These nappies seem to absorb liquid better than other brands and therefore my little boy has needed changing less. They are seems softer than other brands making my little boy more comfortable. They last the full night as long as my little one is just seeing which makes night times much easier. No need to disturb my little man to change him.

Would you choose this product to win?

This nappy is without a doubt the best nappy I have used for my little boy. The price, quality and comfort are definite winners for me. I would recommend them to any of the parents of the children I look after at nursery. A lot of my parents struggle for money and these nappies would be great for them.

What changes would you make to this product?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with these nappies so thereabouts nothing I can suggest to improve them. The design, quality, comfort and price are all perfect. As a nursery manager and a mum of two this product is just what I need!

Tested by mum Amber Grinker for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

These nappies are so affordable compared to other more expensive leading brands. People normally say the more expensive the product the better the quality but this is definitely not the case with these nappies. They do not leak and are very absorbent. I have used more expensive brands which leak and are not just a good fit. These also have cutest little design and the blue line on the front makes it easy to know when to change the nappy.

How did this product make your life easier?

With having a newborn breast fed baby I can go through about 10 nappies a day. Due to the great quality of the nappy I don't need to change this as often. I have no leaking , the absorbency is great especially next to other brands which leaked. Another great thing is this product is relatively inexpsive so makes the affordability of these nappies perfect for me and my baby.

Would you choose this product to win?

I would choose this product as it is cost effective and great quality. Due to being very absorbable my baby has not experienced any nappy rash which for makes this product 10/10. Other brands I have used leaked and needed changing more often making them quite expensive. The biggest thing that stands out is they are inexpensive and great quality. Couldn't ask for more from nappies.

What changes would you make to this product?

The design is relatively simple but in the grand scheme of things this nappy does what it says on the tin. The only downside is the top band makes my baby sweat and often leave his lower tummy warm and a little red from sweating. Maybe the material ay tne top could be more breathable to avoid this?

Tested by mum Faye Paterson for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

These nappies are brilliant value for money! The nappies feel good quality and seem comfortable on my baby. We have had no leaks and they are long lasting, which is the best feature. A good feature on the nappies are the sticky fastner tapes which are re-sealable. We found that our baby was able to move freely when she was wearing the nappies and they didn't leave any marks on her. I would definitely recommend these nappies as they are good quality, excellent price per nappy and they did what is needed with good comfort, support, no leakage.

How did this product make your life easier?

One thing I particularly like about these nappy is the fastener tapes, this means not having to change nappies every time you check the baby’s nappy and therefore you are not wasting as many nappies, it will also be handy when baby is on the move and the nappy is moving around more as you can re-seal the nappy should it become loose. Another good point is how long the babies nappy can last, although our baby is a newborn and needs frequent nappy changes the nappies were lasting longer without any leaks.

Would you choose this product to win?

Although the Aldi Mamia nappies are good quality and have lots of good features for example, re-sealable fasteners and that they are lasting and very good price per nappy, I prefer the Pampers Sensitive nappies as I feel they felt slightly better and fitted my baby better around her legs. Although the Pampers nappies are more expensive than the Mamia range I felt that the price is justified by the quality of the nappy.

What changes would you make to this product?

If I could change anything about the nappy it would be the feel of the nappy, they felt a bit plasticky.
