Testing the Obaby Maya 3 Piece Furniture Set
Having already planned out two nurseries before, I've already made the mistakes of buying things we never used or didn't have longevity, so with the style and promise of growth with your baby that the Obaby Maya 3 Piece Furniture set brings, I was excited to see how the set fit my nursery vision and how practical it really was.
Build
The instructions were really clear for each of the separate builds, and the boxes also arrived clearly labelled too. The parts were easy to understand, and we liked that it made it clear if it required one or two people to build it. While the builds can really be done with one person, two people are required for lifting the wardrobe upright and also for moving the furniture to where you want it.
One thing my husband and I were cautious of were the drawers, as previously we've attached the runners the wrong way round due to the instructions not being clear enough, and we've ended up having to take all the drawers apart again to rectify. But thanks to the easy to follow instructions, we got it right first time!

Usability
I feel like all the pieces in this set are versatile and useful to what you need as parent from being pregnant right through to toddler hood.
As the furniture was going into a room with a bulk head, we won't be using the drawers as a changing table, however the space on top of the unit is really big, and I like that it came with a secure side that you could have for the changing top.
For this reason as well, we didn't put the legs on the drawers so that we could easily reach into the drawers. I really liked that it was easy to adjust without compromising on the style or functionality of it as well.
I found that both the drawers and the wardrobe had ample space for storing everything we needed for our baby. The depth of the drawers are really good too, but I do think having the option to buy storage organisers that fit the set is a good idea, as it would really help parents utilize the space better and helps with being more organised.
Performance
Cot Bed
Whilst it won't be used just yet, we've already had to adjust the bed height of the cot as my husband and I originally built it on the lower setting, so we've raised it up which was really easy to do.
I think there's more than enough space for a baby, and definitely for a toddler too, so we are certain it will last our baby until at least the age of four!
I really liked that the legs were angled slightly rather than going straight down, as it feels a lot more sturdy than my firstborn's cot, which had straight legs and when he was able to stand up and rock the bed it definitely made them less stable.

Drawers
Three drawers might seem like a lot of storage for when you need with a newborn, but as they go up in sizes it's actually really helpful! For now as well, we won't be just storing clothes in the drawers, but we will also be storing any toys and gifts that our baby can't use just yet, which makes it a lot easier of keeping on top of what we have.

Wardrobe
Again, we didn't add the legs to the wardrobe so it would sit flush to the floor, and even with the rug in front of the doorway we were still able to open the doors with ease.
I liked the fact there are no handles on the door as it does actually make it easier to open either side of the wardrobe, and I think as my baby grows it will be more friendly for her opening too. The soft close hinges are also a great addition, as not only will it help prevent little fingers getting trapped, but I've made the mistake a few times of accidentally slamming a door shut and it disturbing my kids when asleep, so this really helps prevent that!
Two rails are more than enough in the wardrobe for clothing, and the shelf at the top means we have plenty of space for storing baby products we need such as extra nappies and toiletries.

Final verdict
Overall, I absolutely love this set. While a little bulky for the space we have, it makes up for it in storage, style and durability. I love the soft close drawers and doors, and I really love how much space you get. I think there would be a real bonus for being able to add organisers, as while the storage space is great, organisers help to utilise the space!
For a whole set, the Obaby Maya 3 Piece Furniture Set is incredibly good value. I can see the cot lasting until our baby outgrows it, but I also see the drawers and wardrobe lasting beyond the four-year-old stage.
I would highly recommend this product to parents who are looking for an affordable yet stylish nursery furniture set, that is also going to last them years.
