Compact, sturdy and beautiful to look at, the Affinity travel system was a firm favourite among our testers and worked equally well on pavements and country walks.

Tested by mum Eleanor Ormrod for the M&B Awards 2016:

Why would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

This pushchair is amazing and offers a real range of options for in town or countryside.  It is really easy to manoeuvre, it folds and erects with one hand. It’s very light to lift and compact to fit into the boot of the car. I like the chrome effect frame which looks very smart and as a whole the pushchair has a sleek appearance. I liked the option to have baby facing forward or rearward as this is a great feature to have. This was very easy to put together and only took about 15 mins. The leather handlebar added a touch of luxury and the stitching looked really classy.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

Being in town with this pushchair was a breeze as it is compact enough to move between shopping aisles and the swivel wheels offer fantastic manoeuvrability around tight corners. The green and red brake feature was also very handy and clear.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

I felt the quality of some of the materials in the chassis could be improved and sometimes when pushing down on the handle bar it felt a little bit flimsy, lightweight.  Perhaps slightly better quality materials and a sturdier shopping basket would be a good improvement.

Tested by mum Lisa James-Platt for the M&B Awards 2016:

Why would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

Great handlebar, easy to alter the height love the leatherette on it as well as on the bumper bar. Easy to fold, and compact, lightweight and east to lift when folded. Forward and rearward facing seat easy recline although you do need to use both hands to do this. Great wheels for suspension and comfortable ride. Lovely colours and the option to alter the look of the pram by using a different colour pack. Easy buckle to open and shut.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

Easy to move the pram one handed Automatic lock so no fussing.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

A bigger basket.

Tested by dad Mike Platt for the M&B Awards 2016:

Why would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow dad?

Very lightweight yet very sturdy. High quality materials and feel throughout. Looks fantastic, moves with ease, and whilst very simple in design, has everything you need without making a fuss. The mesh hood is superb, and does not have the tacky looking plastic screen on the hood.  It ticks all the boxes, and more - and the price is excellent on when compared to others in its class.

How does this product make your life easier as a dad?

Light, big basket, quality feel and look, reversible basket is a winner.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

Additional mesh to act as a hood over the basket, to ensure contents remain in the basket.

2015 – Shortlisted for 'Best Travel System' Award!

The Britax Affinity travel system handles well and folds compactly enough to fit into the boot of a Mini (although the frame might be too wide for certain cars). It takes a while to put together and instructions are vital (there are lots of parts) – so don't lose them!

The pushchair is very sturdy and the brake system is fantastic – clearly labelled; red for on, green for off.  The featured leather handle is durable and the basket is a decent size but too shallow; contents are likely to tip out when the pushchair is tilted.

The recline mechanism, which is very stiff, needs improvement and the straps don’t have much give – bigger children will struggle to fit in. In fact, the pushchair does seem to be a tad too small – certainly for a three-year-old (the maximum age specification suggested by the product); a two-year-old age rage is more realistic.

Overall, a nice product that could do with some improvement but is well-designed and good value for money.

2014 – Top Travel System Award!

The Britax Affinity travel system is suitable from birth and includes a pushchair, carry cot and a fully reversible seat unit. It’s slick, light and sturdy, with a leather handlebar and featured bumper bar. Extra accessories include a newborn wedge, seat apron and basket liner. It even has an anti-theft tracking system!

The pushchair is easy to fold and unfold, and is made from lovely, hard-wearing fabric. The air-filled tyres are fab and the system has good suspension, making it suitable for all types of terrain.

The car seat installs easily although it is quite heavy, and, along with the carrycot, simply clicks into the frame of the pushchair. The sun hood feels a bit flimsy and strength is needed to recline the seat but overall, a stylish, modern system that operates with convenience and manoeuvrability.

Great value for money!

2014 – Top Pushchair Award!

The Britax Affinity pushchair is a smooth ride – easy to push, comfortable and sturdy. It’s good off-road as well as on! The pushchair includes a height adjustable handle, an adjustable hood and ventilation window, and a decent-sized storage basket. It has multi-position seat recline although the recline mechanism is accessed from the front rather than the back, which is not entirely convenient – and the levers are also quite stiff. The pushchair feels bulky when collapsed but it will fit into a car boot, and the folding mechanism has a definite ‘knack’ to it. Plus, it’s expensive – it is nonetheless a stylish, good quality product that little ones will enjoy using.

The Affinity wowed our testers with its stylish looks and practicality. It feels very well made and sturdy, with fantastic features such as the adjustable suspension and beautiful design.

It’s compact and manoeuvrable, despite its considerable weight, and pushes well over rough ground, too. The pushchair and carrycot interchange with ease and it works well and is comfortable in both modes. All our testers loved its sleek minimalist design, and you can choose between different chassis colours and fabric packs so it has a customised feel. The recline was quite tricky to use though, but this was a minor quibble. Overall, the Affinity is an impressive all-rounder that suits all stages and ages and feels more expensive than the price tag suggests.
