Baby Jogger City Lite review

The Baby Jogger City Lite stroller is well made, easy to use and collapses without hassle. It is lovely and spacious, with a big, accessible storage basket, and the seat adjusts with a simple toggle system.

The stroller manoeuvres well on flat surfaces but does not cope well with changes in terrain; the suspension could do with some improvement. It has an unusual, oval-shaped handle bar, which is nicely padded but requires some getting used to; it is, however, a smooth steer. It’s also fairly bulky when folded.

Although the stroller is not perfect it is a quality product that is great for urban environments.

This stroller was really easy to put together and is built from good quality materials. This is by far the easiest stroller to fold that I have come across. With one hand, I just needed to push the button and pull the handle and the stroller effectively folds itself and locks for storage. When out and about, the stroller is easy to manoeuvre and seems very comfortable for my daughter who sleeps through walks in here.

How did this product make your life easier?

The fact that this stroller is so simple to fold and unfold makes it very quick and easy to get going on a walk. There is no delay whilst I struggle with a complicated mechanism so my daughter is happily strapped in and ready to go in no time. If I was using this stroller on a bus and there was no room to keep it open, I would easily be able to carry my daughter and fold the stroller at the same time. It is also quite small when folded so wouldn't take up too much room.

Would you choose this product to win?

The easy folding system for this stroller is the stand out feature for me. Once released, it basically unfolds and folds itself making it very convenient to use. The only downside is the fact that for a lightweight stroller, it is actually still quite heavy but it is still considerably lighter than a bulky travel system for example.

What changes would you make to this product?

Although this is classed as suitable for a newborn, I think it would be better if it was aimed at 6 months and over. The pushchair faces away from me so I cannot see and talk to my newborn daughter (although the peep holes in the hood are very useful). Also on cooler days, it is difficult to wrap a blanket around my newborn whereas this would not be a problem in a more traditional carry cot/pram.

The pram folds up extremely easily, although it does still take two hands do as you have to press the safety catch. It can be used for different ages and both my newborn and toddler were happy in the pram (at different times!). It was easy to steer and coped with a variety of terrains. It has a large good to protect from the elements which has various openings for ventilation. It lies back almost flat which is useful for naps.

How did this product make your life easier?

It is very easy to fold and store. It has a large pocket in the back hood for storing essentials! The window in the hood allows you to keep an eye on the child inside. The children both slept happily inside the pram as the seat could be easily adjusted to different levels while using. The basket underneath is reasonably big and easy to get to.

Would you choose this product to win?

The pram definitely folds very easily, which makes it more convenient than a lot of travel systems, but no easier than a stroller. It is a good pram because it is versatile but I don't think I would choose it to replace a first pram for a newborn as I didn't feel that my baby was totally secure and she wasn't fully protected from the sun/wind which she would be in a pram. It did steer well but wasn't brilliant over grass.

What changes would you make to this product?

The straps were a bit of a nightmare, especially when in a hurry. The 5 point harness came apart every time you undid the straps and was very fiddly to do up, often getting lost in the shoulder strap protectors, which also had a habit of falling off. This made it difficult when trying to get a wriggling and protesting toddler in. They also seemed a bit loose, even when tightened up.

Would you recommend the Baby Jogger City Lite to other mums?

It’s got everything going for it really - it’s comfortable, it’s chic, it’s easy to use and manuovere, it’s compact, it’s stylish, it doesn't take up much space and it’s great for wherever you are taking your little one - a smooth ride for baby and for mum too. I love that you can take it off road and it can any handle any terrain. There is plenty of storage too which is great for such a compact stroller.

How did this product make your life easier?

It’s light weight and compact, fits easily into my boot and is great to use on public transport. I love that I can take this anywhere as the wheels allow you to use it on most terrains. It’s easy to use and doesn't take up loads of space in my home. An added bonus is that my son doesn't actually mind getting in it and the design allows him to climb into it himself!

Would you choose this product to win?

It’s got everything going for it. Everything that you would want out of a stroller it provides - comfort for baby, a smooth ride for baby and for mum, they've thought of everything from the air vents allowing circulation to the hood which provides extra protection on sunny days. The raised foot rest is perfect for my little boy too. It’s great on all terrains and perfect for popping to the shop or going for a long stroll in the country. It’s compact, stylish, chic and easy to use.

What changes would you make to this product?

On the face of it nothing, the only thing I would change - and this is specific to my son - is that the seat doesn't come far forward enough. My son loves to sit forward and it would be great if the seat went forward enough to offer support for his back. This however is nitpicking and aside from this I wouldn't change a thing and would highly recommend the stroller.
