Testing the Cybex Orfeo
Mum of two, Bethany, put the Cybex Orfeo stroller through its paces on a recent holiday abroad, here’s how she got on…
We were very excited to receive the Orfeo pushchair to review. As a mum of two small children aged three and 17 months, I was thrilled to try out this super convenient stroller due to my life being very busy and hectic. Having a pushchair that is quick and simple to unfold and fold away is a must have for my lifestyle as I am always rushing to get in and out of the car when travelling.
The instant pro to this pushchair is how lightweight and easy it is to carry when folded up. It has a strap that you can put on your shoulder to allow you to carry it when it’s not in use. This is really comfortable and there is barely any weight pulling on your shoulder either. The material of the stroller is very lightweight and easy to wipe down and keep clean.
We have tested this pushchair in two countries with different weather climates and the material preformed very well and impressed me. It did not appear to absorb heat, fade or go out of shape in anyway when it was placed in direct sunlight. When in the cooler climate it was brilliant in the rain it resisted the water really well. I also didn’t notice the material getting damp or any of the pushchair frame becoming stiff from the cold.
We put the Orfeo to test when we travelled on a plane and I was very impressed with how well it fit into the overhead lockers and how it folded down small enough to carry on my shoulder down the plane until I got to my seat. I also carried my daughter on the opposite shoulder which proves how lightweight this stroller is.
The weight capacity of this pushchair is also impressive, it fits my 17 month old in it perfectly as well as my three year old. You can adjust the leg rest so it stays extended or it tucks down to make it more comfortable for the older child when they are using it.
It also has an adjustable strap at the back of the pushchair for reclining and altering the seat for your child. This is really easy to use. You simply pull it up to sit the seat upright or pinch and pull the plastic either side of the leaver to recline it right down for when your little one is sleeping. My daughter ( 17 months) slept very well in this pushchair when the seat was reclined fully and did not seem uncomfortable at any point.
One con to the Orfeo pushchair would be that when using it for the first few times, I found it very stiff to fold up and fold down. This made it a little frustrating when needing to use the pushchair quickly. I would say that this made the one handed fold feature hard to use.
Another con is that the shopping basket at the bottom is not very big in size so does not hold much more than a few small items such as a blanket and a bottle. Also, with the pushchair being so light in weight it does not hold any items that are heavy on the handle like a changing bag or it will tip backwards.
We tested the pushchair on different terrains such as tarmac, cobble path, beach and astroturf. I was very impressed by the usability of the Orfeo as it was easy to push and manoeuvre on all listed. It’s very smooth and agile.
The breaks on the pushchair are very strong. They work very well with absolutely no movement in the wheels when the break is applied. This however makes the pushchair more likely to tip which is the only downfall.
The harness in the pushchair is very easy to clip together and can be pulled tightly by the toggle at the bottom of the seat. It can then be released by pushing the inside of the toggle down. The straps to tend to twist easily but can be sorted quite quickly.
Final thoughts
Overall my final summary of the Orfeo stroller would be that I think this is a fantastic pushchair. It suits my lifestyle perfectly as it is so lightweight, small in size and quick to assemble. I love the material, I think it is great quality and very durable. I love how this pushchair can be taken anywhere whether it is an aeroplane, car or carried on my shoulder.
I would definitely say that the Orfeo is good value for money. The quality of the pushchair is really impressive and feels like an expensive travel system. It shines out to travel pushchairs I have used in the past because of all the smart features I have listed. It’s stylish and efficient.
The only area of the pushchair I would change would be the size of the shopping basket. Just so it allows you to fit more essential items in and avoid you having to carry them yourself.
I would definitely recommend this stroller to any of my friends that have small children and are needing an pushchair for travel or even to use as a quick alternative to a large pushchair. This is because it saves lots of time and is definitely an essential that mums need in their lives.
