Testing the Didofy Stargazer
I’m a mum of one to a 2.5-year-old little girl called Cassie. While she loves to walk we often take a stroller out as a backup and she loved the opportunity to try out a new one. Giving birth during lockdown meant that we were always out for walks, and I had the opportunity to try several strollers, so I was interested to see how the Didofy Stargazer would compare.
Most of the time we use a stroller for short walks to and from the childminder or local parks. We also love to travel around the UK and abroad, so it’s important that the stroller is fairly compact and can fit in the back of our average-sized car too.
Putting together the stroller was very simple. It was just a case of locking in the four wheels and choosing the direction of the seat (world or parent-facing). Once it was clicked in place, we were ready to go in 10 minutes.
The design of the stroller was very pleasing to the eye with a unisex grey colour, and I found it felt very sturdy, despite being easy to fold and unfold with one hand.
The key features of the stroller included the one-hand fold, easy manoeuvrability, UPF 50 hood and the large shopping basket. Although a little tricky at first, the one-hand fold was very handy when you’re trying to keep hold of your child and fold up the stroller. In a similar way, the easy manoeuvrability is brilliant if you find yourself needing to carry your toddler and you only have one hand free to push.
I loved the UPF 50 hood, the fact that it had a peek-a-boo window and even extended further, allowing more coverage when the seat was in the fully flat setting.
The five-point harness was very easy to adjust and fasten, with several heights available for the shoulder straps. Although we didn’t need the optional footmuff, due to the good weather, we did use the insert as a liner for the main seat, which protected it from the usual mess a two-year-old can generate!
Last, but definitely not least, was the huge shopping basket underneath. With plenty of space for bags, picnic blankets, cuddly toys, and everything else you might need to put underneath, we found it a very valuable feature.
Unlike many other brands, this stroller comes with a rain cover and a drinks holder. The rain cover, although well-made, did not seem large enough to cover a larger child’s feet. My little girl’s feet stuck out the bottom, while the rest of her was kept nice and dry.
This stroller is best for day-to-day use, most suited to pavements and smooth grass, it seemed to struggle with potholes and on some curbs. However, it was definitely a win with the real tester, two-year-old Cassie. She never fought us as I put her in and she seemed to enjoy the higher-than-average seat.
For those who want to buy the full 11-piece bundle, it’s suitable from birth with the addition of a collapsible bassinet, and an i-size car seat, which comes with the separate ISOfix base (as part of the bundle). The base is very simple to install in the car, and the car seat, snaps in quickly and easily, although it doesn’t have the handy swivel feature which many car seats have these days.
The changing bag and mat, available as part of the bundle, add a chic look to the overall package, with a black bag, which features a plethora of pockets for wipes, bottles, creams and nappies.
Final verdict
Overall I felt the Didofy Stargazer was an excellent stroller, especially coming as part of an 11-piece bundle, I think it is very reasonably priced. I thought the one-handed fold and easy manoeuvrability were excellent features, and the fact that it is made out of recycled bottles is a great addition for those who are more eco-conscious.
For me, the only downsides were that it seemed to get caught on a few curbs, where I wasn’t expecting it to and the stroller raincover was too small to cover older children and the bottom of the footmuff. All-in-all an excellent stroller, and it got the thumbs up from my two-year-old.
