The Silver Cross Tide won Silver in the Mother&Baby Awards 2024 for Best Pushchair.
Testing the Silver Cross Tide
Parent tester one:
Buying a pram can be really overwhelming. There are so many options, different features and designs. I did lots of research and had a shortlist of features that were important to me: ease to put up and down, not too heavy, wheels suitable for pavements and parks and comfort for baby (of course). The Silver Cross Tide ticked all of these boxes and looks pretty smart too.
Build
It was really easy to put together when it arrived. It comes with a carry cot for young babies (which suits us at the moment) and a reversible seat for when baby gets a bit older. It is really easy to connect and remove these different options.
Having looked at many different prams when we were expecting, as a comparison, this pram has all of the features we wanted and is very comparable price-wise. This pram is good quality, from a good, reputable brand and (hopefully) will last until baby is four years old.
The design of the Silver Cross Tide travel system certainly makes life easier as a mum. It’s comfortable for both of my babies. My 11 week old slept soundly in the crib as we effortlessly moved him on and off the buggy and my two and a half year old gleefully seated world facing, enjoying the countryside.
We have the all-black the version and whilst the design is quite basic, we think it looks quite smart. I would recommend this pram to a friend!
Usability
I've found the Silver Cross Tide a really lovely, versatile pram that strikes a great balance between being functional and compact without compromising on comfort for my little one. There are a few really interesting and thoughtful features such as the extendable hood/canopy with ventilation panel and the magnetic style buckle is so much easier than other major pram brands I have used.
The pram is made from high-quality material and is stylish. I found the ability to fold down rather compactly without removing the seat a great feature. It's a smooth ride and comfortable, well-padded seat for my little one.
The large, under-storage basket is excellent, especially as you always would rather sling any additional items into the buggy than carry them, and having the option for a phone holder or cup accessory is a great touch.
I also liked that it could be adjusted multi-directional for the comfort of the parent and then the comfort of the child. The UV-screened fabric and vent make for a calm space and my newborn baby boy fell asleep immediately. We live quite rurally and the landscape close by can be challenging with a buggy. I was hoping for something to tackle this terrain and whilst the buggy managed, it wasn’t effortless and the wheels, although don’t puncture, are too narrow for the soft ground.
Parent tester two:
Build
I have two daughters (five years old and five months old) and an energetic puppy, so an ideal pushchair for me is an easy-to-assemble one that is also lightweight yet robust.
I liked that there’s a zip pocket on the back of the pushchair seat, I found it’s a lot easier than having to keep bending down to the basket, and the pocket was large enough to put my phone and keys in.
There are hooks for a changing bag but, as I don’t have a compatible changing bag, I used the basket to store mine. The basket is more than big enough and easy to access even under the carrycot.
The rain covers fold away into themselves to make a storage bag, so you don’t have to carry a separate case for them and I found it easy to fit the covers onto the pram securely. The pushchair seat is easy to attach and adjust onto the chassis and I was really impressed with the magnetic buckle as it made getting my wriggly baby done up in the seat a lot easier.
There’s a lay flat option for naps on the go and the hood folds right over to keep baby covered. There’s also a handy mesh viewing panel so you can keep an eye on baby if they are napping or if they are world-facing.
Performance
While testing the Tide, we have been out to supermarkets, shopping centres, on dog walks and the wheels didn’t get stuck at all. It’s easy to steer and manoeuvre over both curbs and fields. It’s narrow enough that getting through a busy town or supermarket aisles isn’t an issue.
The pram is robust but light making it excellent on both road and grass. I found it incredibly easy to dismantle and it fits easily into the boot of my car with enough space for shopping bags too.
The frame itself is incredibly lightweight and easy to collapse, it looks premium, it’s modern and has a large basket. The carrycot has a really comfortable mattress and a removable cover.
It is suitable for overnight sleep so it would be the perfect lightweight pram for weekends away as it also folds down compactly. I love that the mesh hood is factor 50, as it saves needing to worry about a separate sunshade.
Final thoughts
The Silver Cross Tide offers a versatile 3-in-1, converting from a cosy pram to a multi-position reversible stroller and equipped with all essentials for your family’s outings.
