The Kiddy Moon Toddler Tower is a fairly standard Toddler Tower, primarily for use in the kitchen. The great thing about it is the adjustable height, so you can make sure it’s the right height for your toddler. In my case, lower is better, due to my 18 month old daughter’s enthusiasm for climbing everything.

There are a range of toddler towers on the market, and while I did on first impressions find this quite bulky, at least you know it's sturdy. I have seen other towers on the market, which seem to be more aesthetically appealing, but I suspect they might be better for older children, as they all look to be easier to get out of.

Expert rating:
3.5

Pros

  • Easy to wipe clean
  • Easy to get children in and out of
  • The design is very sturdy
  • The size of the Tower means there’s quite a lot of room for children, means it has more longevity
  • The kids seemed fairly comfortable in it
  • It absolutely serves it’s function of being a perfectly good toddler tower, it’s sturdy
  • Children can get in and out of it on their own
  • Although I’ve not had it for long it seems durable, it’s thick, it’s heavy
  • It’s a cheaper model on the market
  • Appears good value for money
  • Performed exactly as I expected it to
  • In theory the removable bar could keep your child more safe
  • Hard to fall out of

Cons

  • With the sturdiness, also comes bulkiness, it’s big and heavy
  • The dark colour isn’t particularly appealing
  • The safety bar at the back can become a toy
  • Food can get stuck in the cracks between pieces of wood
  • With my children, it became more of a toy, with the toddler climbing in and out of it instead of standing up and staying still in it
  • The removable bar at the back became a toy, making it feel less safe
  • My daughter kept trying to get out of it on her own, and getting stuck because she is too little to work out the steps herself
  • It has big corners and big wooden feet at the front which can catch your toes

The key testers of the product were myself and my 18 month old daughter, though my husband and 4 year old son also got involved. The product was fairly easy to assemble – it must have taken about half an hour to get it out of its box and put it together. The instructions were easy to follow, and the 4 year old loved getting involved. He has also found it really useful, even if he’s ‘too old’ to use it. I think I would have used the Toddler Tower more with my son when he was a bit younger, as he’s always been interested in helping to cook, and less enthusiastic* (*of a liability) than my daughter. It is definitely useful if you find yourself bending down a lot or carrying your children a lot while cooking.

When it arrived, it wasn’t packaged brilliantly, the protective plastic had come apart and as you can see, was fairly loose in the box. However, the product didn’t seem to have suffered for the poor packaging. It was still in very good condition, a benefit of its sturdiness.

One feature of the Kiddy Moon Toddler Tower is a removable wooden bar at the back, which means you can trap your toddler into the Tower. However, my daughter found it was more fun to play with it, which meant loud bangs on the kitchen floor. Still, if your child is less disruptive than mine, the wooden bar might provide more stability and safety for your toddler.

Because of the size and bulkiness of the product, and the fact that you can't fold it away, I’d suggest it’s better for parents and carers with larger kitchens. We found it took up a lot of space in our small/medium sized kitchen.

It’s easy to clean and maintain. I just cleaned it with a dustpan and brush, however, if you were to cook something messier and get that stuck in the crevices, it could be a lot trickier to clean.

The best feature of this product is, by far, its use as a step stool for when cooking. I also trusted its sturdiness, even if in our experience the removable wooden bar at the back has actually been more disruptive than useful.

The product did meet my expectations and in some instances, exceeded them. It’s useful, it is really lovely to have my child closer to me while I cook, it felt good to bond with her face nearer mine, and to involve her in the daily activity of cooking. However, an improvement for me would be if the removable bar at the back was something you could secure to prevent toddlers from throwing it. I do think, though, if she was older, it might have been a different story. Perhaps this Toddler Tower is better suited to children closer to the 2 and a half year age marker.

Overall I’d say it was fairly good value for money, as one of the cheaper options on the market, as it really was sturdy. If you’re not fussed by it taking up kitchen space, and you have an older toddler, I imagine it’s a great product.

Main reason to buy? Good price, sturdy, and the size means I reckon it’s got more longevity than other more sleek items on the market as it can hold your children for longer. My four year old fitted very nicely in it. Just beware of the removable bar at the back, which can become unnervingly like a toy.
