Medi Clock

At a glance:

A product designed to make giving medicine easier, the MediClock is lightweight and portable. Our panel of mum testers liked how easy this was to use, but wished the design was a little brighter and more appealing.

What they say:

"MediClock helps parents and carers to regulate the medicines they give their children through the use of a countdown clock and alarm which can be programmed to alert every 24, 6 or 4 hours. Key functions and features include a countdown from 24, 6 or 4 hours – to be used depending on the dosage recommendation of the medicine. Alarmed or silent reminders (to avoid waking the whole family!)"

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend it because it makes life a lot easier when needing to remember to administer medicine to a baby. It is lightweight and portable and I love that the alarm sounds very clearly. It’s super easy to use and does exactly what it says on the tin.

How did this product make your life easier?

I gave my baby Calpol a few times after he had his routine vaccinations to help with the temperature, but I didn’t fully take notice of what time it was, so ended up roughly calculating when his next dose should be to make sure I hadn’t given him his doses too close together. Now I can put the alarm on and it will just let me know without any calculations. I wish I knew about this product sooner!

Would you choose this product to win?

Yes, I would, I have not seen any other products like this on the market and would highly recommend it.

What changes would you make to this product?

I don’t love the green and white design; another colour may be more attractive!

Tested by mum Victoria Symons for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

Definitely, it’s so useful not having to remember your last dose time and removes the fear of overdosing. You are so busy as a parent, so this takes the strain off worrying about your child’s next medicine dose. It's portable, so great for taking out in the changing bag too.

How did this product make your life easier?

Keeping track of medicine doses is fantastic, it releases the worry of trying to remember. I worry a lot and this helps to ease my mind knowing that I haven’t accidently overdosed my child or forgotten to give them their next dose. I used it for myself too, it’s great for if you’re taking pain medicine.

Would you choose this product to win?

I don’t think there is any other product on the market like the Mediclock, so it should definitely win hands down.

What changes would you make to this product?

Maybe if it came in a different range of colours that would be good.

Tested by mum Jennifer Wilson for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend this product to a friend or fellow mum whose child requires regular medication, or just to someone who has a busy life. This product would help monitor the time between administering medication. The design is simple and easy to use, which not only comes in useful for mothers but would be really great for elderly people taking regular medication.

How did this product make your life easier?

My son was diagnosed with Kawasaki Disease last May and requires daily medication. This product made it easier to monitor the morning prescription. The alarm and light helped keep me aware.

Would you choose this product to win?

This is the first time I was aware of a product like this. I feel it was adequate for its purpose but not distinctive enough to be the one I would choose over others. That said, I do like the MediClock, especially the light that enabled me to check the countdown throughout the night, avoiding disturbing my son.

What changes would you make to this product?

I think the colour is too medical and would like to see it in more fun designs!

Tested by mum Helen Warwood for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I think the main selling point is the reduced chance of a double dose being given to your baby. Therefore, I would recommend it as this is very important. By using this monitor and keeping it by the Calpol, my husband can see at a glance when the next dose is due and wouldn't have to guess himself or come and find me to find out. It is very practical.

How did this product make your life easier?

It is easier to keep track of your last dose by actually seeing a countdown. Otherwise I would have written it on my phone and probably forgotten it was there. I can see how this also makes it easier when there are multiple people caring for the baby.

Would you choose this product to win?

I think it is a very simple and well thought out product which does make things easier. The light is helpful if you are storing it in baby’s dark room as you can check it in the night. I think it should win!

What changes would you make to this product?

The alarm is a little quiet and could be louder, to reach me at the other end of the house for example.

Tested by mum Samantha Wincote for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend this product to other mums that use Calpol or have older children. I can be quite forgetful so can really see its purpose. The only medication we've been using whilst testing the Mediclock is teething aids, which are to be applied every three hours. Therefore, this was annoying as we couldn’t use it because it only has set timers of four, six and twenty-four hours. But otherwise, the product is easy to use and the back light is handy.

How did this product make your life easier?

It makes life easier if you are a forgetful person or have a busy lifestyle, but I don’t think we had much use for it personally.

Would you choose this product to win?

I don’t think so as there are better safety products in this category.

What changes would you make to this product?

It wasn’t wholly relevant to me so I cannot comment. But I can see how it would be useful for a lot of families.
