At a glance

The Nuby UV Dummy Steriliser cleverly kills bacteria from your baby's dummy in just 3 minutes without water or a microwave. Clever, right! The device is completely portable and can be strapped to a buggy or bag.

Why do you think this product is so different to anything else on the market?

Sarah: I haven’t seen anything like this on the market prior to being asked to test and review this product. It’s incredibly handy for when you’re out and about, and you quickly need to sterilise a dummy for baby. I would usually use sterilising wipes, however, this product has replaced them, as I find it so easy and simple to use. It’s portable, lightweight and easy to use, so you don’t have to worry about not having a sterile dummy at any point.

Jenna: I used to sterilise my baby’s dummies in a cold water solution and found that when I got a dummy out for my baby to use it was cold and wet and the teat sometimes contained water which meant squeezing to remove, rendering the dummy non-sterile. The water would also sometimes create a light rash on my baby’s face. Since using the UV Steriliser the rash has gone and the worry of my baby ingesting sterile water is no longer an issue. It’s quick, convenient and looks smart, everything a busy mum needs. Other UV sterilisers promise to sterilise faster in 1 minute, though I would question the reliability, 60 seconds seems very fast to do a job properly. The design is neat, and not unlike other similar products available but the brand is a trusted one.

Sejal: I have not come across many others which are such good value for money and this would be my main attraction for using this product. I like that it encourages hygienic practice without much fuss. Prior to this object, I used to ask for boiling hot water at a nearby restaurant and this is time-consuming, inconvenient and a barrier to going out and about when you are a nervous first-time mum.

Zara: I've not seen anything else like this on the market. I think it's a great idea and a good solution to the problem of on the go sterilizing. It's great for either everyday use or a holiday as it's nice and small and light so it's very easy to take anywhere. I would definitely choose it over the small liquid sterilisers I've used before

Why does it change your life with your baby?

Sarah: It makes it so quick and easy to sterilise dummies; my little one, I’m sure he’s like many others – loves to pull the dummy out of his mouth, wave it about, and then he ends up dropping it on the floor and cries. Having this device has helped me to quickly sterilise his dummies when they need doing, and it has stopped a lot of screaming/crying periods when out and about.

Stephanie: It is great to be able to be reassured about sterilisation of the dummies on the move, and I wish I had come across this product when my baby was much younger! I worried a little before about rinsing it as you have to have access to water, but this gadget takes this worry away. It takes the thought out of another process.

Jessica: Being a busy mum who likes to get out and about, using the Uv dummy steriliser has made our lives so much easier as it takes away the stress of worrying if my little girls dummy drops in the floor that I have to search around a bag for another one, as I can safely sterilise the one she already has. It’s a super easy product to use so it’s not a complicated gadget for those that are technophobes. Overall a brilliantly designed product.

Chloe: Oh my goodness... as a mum of one-year-old twin boys you can imagine how boisterous they are. They are constantly throwing their dummies when we are out and about. I have to take so many dummies out with me. I’ve already whacked it all over social media. I’ve had so many DM’s on Instagram about this beast of a machine. Everyone can’t believe how simple the machine is and the fact you don’t need WATER. Still cannot get my head around that. Well done nuby. Well done!!! You are winning at life there.

What excites you about this product?

Sarah: What excites me is that it’s so portable and very useful to have in your changing bag / in the car or just around the house. You can have two dummies in there at once, so you’ve always got a spare one ready to go when you need it and haven’t got to go rummaging around to try and find a clean one when little one is having a meltdown! It’s definitely something that I would consider buying, and I would definitely recommend it to other parents.

Katherine: This is a definite recommendation. I was skeptical at first as it felt a little bulky but it does fit in the change bag easily. The shape and design makes it easy to find. I am pleased that you can use different makes of soothers in the steriliser. I've already shown fellow mums what a great product it is whilst out and about.

Terri: It is universal to all dummies, so it will accommodate all ranges, so moms don't have to buy one design of dummy, etc. It is quick to use, easy to keep clean, simple to charge, just like charging a tablet or your phone for example. It has an extremely long battery life as well, I've used it daily since having the product and only had to charge it once or twice.

What one thing would you change about this product?

Sarah: If I were to change anything about this product, it would probably be to include a simple on/off switch. I didn’t really want to leave the batteries inside the device all the time when not in use, so as not to drain them quicker, and there was the odd occasion where the button to start the sterilising process was knocked by accident once the dummies inside had already been sterilised (not that that’s a bad thing!). Instead of having to take the batteries in and out of the product every time it’s used, a little switch would probably be a good idea, so it’s quicker to set up and use when needed in a hurry.

Jessica: If I could change one thing about the Nuby UV dummy steriliser it would be that it became available In a number of colours to make it more compatible with all peoples styles. The size and shape is effect but different colours would probably make it more appealing to a wider market. Overall I love it!

Terri: I would suggest making it bigger, so you could perhaps charge more than one dummy at a time, or maybe having the light that flashes at the end to say the dummy is ready, maybe having a small beep as well as a couple of times I did forget, I had sterilized it and had gone to get another dummy! But overall, a great handy product.

Katherine: I'm struggling to find something that would improve this product. Maybe if it were lighter, and had a charging facility to save use batteries. I really love this product; anything that will help keep germs away and enable you more time to enjoy being out and about is always going to be a winner.
