Testing the Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature Digital Bath and Room Thermometer

I never thought I’d be as obsessed with temperature as I am now that I’m getting my home ready for the arrival of my baby. It’s been warm, and I need to make sure my baby is at a comfortable temperature in all circumstances – so a bath and home thermostat makes things far easier for me.

I gave the Tommee Tippee one a go because I thought it looked cute and quite simple, perfect for me! Baby’s nursery is going to be quite neutral as we aren’t finding out the gender, so a white star with a minimal amount of blue felt perfect and subtle.

Testing the thermostat in both the nursery and the bath allowed me to make sure it was working and accurate. The temperature in the room matched both my baby monitor and the thermostat in my home, so I know it can be trusted. When I chucked it in the bath and filled it with hot water, I immediately saw the temperature start to increase which matched roughly what I would have guessed by touching the water.

The display screen is quite dark, but I wouldn’t say it was a struggle to see it. The only time it might be more of a challenge is if it’s dark in the room too, so it’s not the smoothest read. However, the size of the writing is a great size, so providing the light in the room is perfect, you should have no concerns!

As the thermostat is battery powered, it has a specific shelf life. The battery can be replaced and should last around one year, which is quite impressive! It’s a CR2032 battery, so it shouldn’t be too hard to get hold of when you do need to restock.

The size of this is great, the only thing I would remotely describe as a potential hazard would be the small stand the star sits on. It doesn’t screw into the thermostat and is a separate part of the item, but if I’m storing it out of reach once my little one becomes a toddler, I’d remain confident. At just £20, I think the thermostat is a good price considering I can use it in both the nursery and bath too. It floats in the water, which makes it easy to take back out when I need to. Although there aren’t many additional features, for just £20 it’s a good price for what you get!

Final verdict

I’m happy with the product, it’s small, simple and can be used everywhere I need it. I love the ease of the thermostat and I feel confident knowing that the temperature is in line with the rest of my home.
