Testing the Love To Dream Sleep Machine

Mother&Baby’s Digital Writer Hannah had loads of fun testing this with her 14-month-old little boy, who instantly was drawn to the fun shape and squishy texture.

It came packaged in a lovely little box and came with an informative booklet explaining how to use all the different functions, a bonus that it came fully charged, too! You do get a cable included but not a plug so make sure you have one of those handy when you come to use it for the first time. The heart-shaped design of this is super cute and one side is soft and squishy - great for tiny hands. My 15-month-old , who goes to sleep with the help of white noise every single night, loved staring at the warm and red light (they both support the production of melatonin without disrupting a baby’s ability to develop a healthy circadian rhythm) and he instantly seemed to calm down holding it while he was having his pre-bedtime milk. In fact, the first time I used it he managed to have a sleep window of nearly six hours compared to his normal four. He has always been notoriously bad at settling back to sleep but watching him on the baby monitor, he seems to stir, look at the machine and then fall back asleep. He’s at an age where he often sits up and then tries to settle him back to sleep, I really think the warm light and noise helped him on his way and I definitely noticed a difference in in sleep windows.

They really have thought of everything to make them stand out in the world of white noise machines. From the ability to record 30-second voice messages (perfect for grandparents and special occasions), 16 different volume levels, nine pre-set soothing sounds, including rhythmic white noise, brown noise, rain, hushing, womb sounds and lullaby and the option for it to turn into a Bluetooth speaker when they are not so little anymore. I loved how it is made from recyclable materials, the handy carry strap meaning you can attach it to a cot or pram bar and the fact the battery lasts for ages compared to many on the market - 22 hours to be exact!

Final verdict

There isn't much not to love about the Love To Dream Sleep machine, they have really ticked every single box to find all the gaps in the market. The stand out for me has to be the battery, as it lasted for a few nights before needing a recharge. There are a lot of features I haven't seen before in a white noise machine, including the option for pink and brown noise and the option to record messages. The only nag I have would be that recording messages was a little tricky for me to get my head around at first, but once I got the hang of it (and re-read the instructions) I was good to go.
