It can be quite difficult to find a baby sleep aid that does everything you need it to, but the Momcozy Sunrise Sound Machine is a thoughtfully designed sleep aid that aims to help create a better sleep and wake-up experience for parents and their babies.

As a mum of two children, I've used a huge range of sleep aids including many different night lights and sound machines, but at a glance, what impressed me with the Momcozy Sunrise Sound Machine was that it combined sound, light, and even time into one convenient and sleek looking device.

Testing the Momcozy Sunrise Sound Machine

Build

Upon first impression of the Momcozy Sunrise Sound Machine, it looked modern and sleek, and it's white and grey colour meant that it would go with most nursery or bedroom decor. I really liked the shape of it too, as it reminded me of a sun too.

One thing that could be an issue is that fact that it doesn't have a rechargeable battery and it is operated through mains power. This meant I was limited in my daughters room to wear I could put the machine, that was also in a convenient location. However, this is only a minor issue as it was also lightweight, so I didn't have to worry if my daughter picked it up, and the buttons are also well positioned on the top.

Usability

While the Momcozy Sunrise Sound Machine is easy to use, as the buttons on top are labelled clearly for each use, setting up the different routines and timer settings does take awhile, and I did find it a bit tedious to set up. I feel if it had an app connected to it, it would simplify the process a lot more, however, the instructions were easy to follow, and once it was set up we didn't need to adjust anything.

I did find it easy to move between the different functions though, and adjusting the volume, brightness and different sounds or coloured lights were really easy to do.

Performance

As a wake-up and sleep aid, I was curious to see how well the Momcozy Sunrise Sound Machine actually performed, and how it would help our morning and night time routine easier. Once the routines were set, it was easy to set up the night time routine with my daughter, and have a dimmed light with white noise to help fall asleep.

Sometimes she would ask for different noises, which we could easily change as well as different coloured lights, however, that initial wind-down routine was really helpful to have.

One issue we did have with the morning rise was that because we don't have blackout curtains in my daughters room, in the summer mornings we found the natural light outside would sometimes wake her before the Momcozy did, but if not, the sounds of the machine gradually getting louder helped her wake up slowly.

In the colder months or with blackout curtains, I feel as though the sunrise function would be a lot better and a lot more effective, but in summer, it doesn't necessarily have the same effect. It is a great option to have though!

Another thing about the Momcozy Sunrise which I loved was the fact there was a clock on display too. On the nights I slept in my daughters room and woke up, it was a lot nicer glancing to the machine than it was having to check a bright phone screen. I also think this would be great for eventually helping my daughter learn the time.

Final Verdict

Overall I was really impressed with the Momcozy Sunrise Sound Machine and its ability to combine a natural wake-up experience with calming sleep sounds. It took a little while to get used to all the features and setting up a sleep routine with it, but once it's done, you don't have to change it unless you want to.

My daughter loved the different coloured lights, and it definitely helped to wake her up gently in the morning, especially on mornings we needed to be up, ready and out - she was lot less grumpy. I would recommend it to other parents, as not only does it do everything sleep aids should do in one device, but it's great value for money too. Another huge advantage is it will grow with your child! My seven-year-old has his eye on it, so it's good to know that it has longevity, and will outlast those early years.
