At a glance:

The responsive springs in this mattress encased in individual pockets provide the perfect support, whilst the outer cover offers a soft breathable sleeping surface which allows the free flow of air, keeping baby cool and regulating their heat. This sleeping surface is washable at 60oc, killing all germs and bacteria, and benefits from the anti-allergy Actipro treatment, making the mattress ideal for allergy sufferers. The core of the mattress is protected from the inevitable accidents by a waterproof, wipeable PVC cover.

Would you recommend this to other mums?

Israa: Yes definitely. It looks great and you feel as though you have a quality product. I loved that it was harmful chemical-free and anti-allergic, with a washable sleeping surface, giving me peace of mind that my daughter was safe and clean! She certainly slept better and longer on it than with her previous mattress.

Sarah: I thought this was a great quality, comfortable mattress and I would definitely recommend it to others. With it being coil sprung it offered good support to my little one and she slept soundly which is the main thing. During hot weather, I felt confident knowing that the surface was breathable therefore regulating her heat. Although my daughter doesn’t suffer from allergies, I do, so the fact that it has had anti-allergy treatment reassures me that this mattress would be suitable for her if this were to change.

Kirsty: I would recommend this product because of the removable cover and the convenience of keeping it clean. I would also recommend this product because of the manufacturing process. Knowing how the product was made and what materials were used reassured me about the quality and durability.

How did this product make your life easier?

Julie: This product made my life so much easier. We finally had a little girl that slept for longer stretches. She had been on a mattress that was way too soft and she was having trouble rolling which would, therefore, wake her up. We had a happy baby getting more sleep and a happy mum getting more sleep too. I didn’t have to worry about her overheating as it's breathable. It is easy to wash if needed and the waterproof layer means that I don’t need to use a waterproof mattress protector.

Jennifer: I am not sure whether this makes my life easier as a mum but it is a great product. When the item arrived I put it next to the current one to see how comfortable it felt. It is squashy and felt so comfortable to lie on so I think my baby would be comfy on it too. A comfortable mattress hopefully means a comfortable baby who sleeps well and doesn't wake through discomfort.

Margaret: This mattress is definitely a higher quality mattress than the one that came with our cot bed. You can really feel the difference. Our little one does seem to be sleeping better with this mattress. I am sure any parent will try anything to get a full nights sleep. So this mattress is worth the money.

Would you choose this product to win?

Sarah: This product seems to offer everything I’d be looking for in a mattress. The quality seems excellent, it is made in the UK, has a two-year guarantee, offers good support, is comfortable, has an anti-allergy treatment, is pocket sprung and has a waterproof cover which is also washable. My little one also slept soundly on it, even in the hot weather so it is good to know that she also approves of it! I would definitely recommend it to other parents.

Kirsty: I would choose this product over others because I was given information about the manufacturing process. Knowing this reassured me about the care that Slumberland take over their products. This made me feel that the product is likely to last and in a cot bed, this is something which is important. I like that there is a removable waterproof cover that can be washed and that this is attached by a zip making it easy to detach.

Jennifer: I would choose it due to its comfort, breathability and zip-off cover. However, I do feel like it is a little pricey compared to others on the market. My baby seems to be sleeping the same if not a little better than with her old mattress so I think she must be comfortable and cool at night time. It fits the cot perfectly too.

What changes would you make to this product?

Stephanie: There's nothing that really sticks out that I would change. It would be good if it can be purchased in different sizes. For example, I've always found it difficult to purchase a quality mattress for the Moses basket. If I could have this mattress for our Moses basket as well that would be fantastic.

Alice Jayne: Perhaps make it in different sizes? Although cot beds tend to come in a generic size, I found this didn't fit into my eldest child's old cotbed.

Israa: Not much. The price is higher than some mattresses but I don't think it’s unreasonable for the quality of the item. The features of a sprung mattress, the breathability, the fact it is anti-allergy, and harmful chemical-free, and that it’s made in the UK, more than justify the cost. In addition, this mattress is safe, winning the best safety product in the past. As a scientist, I appreciate that research costs money and you really do get what you pay for!
